Houston Pipe Club The Heights
(3.67)
The Heights is a blend from our friends at the Houston Pipe Club. It's an intriguing mixture of two types of red Virginia, fragrant Turkish, dark-fired Kentucky, unflavored black Cavendish and a good splash of Cyprian Latakia. The blend is smoky sweet and a bit earthy, producing volumes of thick smoke. See for yourself what they're smoking in the great state of Texas.
Notes: Blended and tested by Members of the Houston Pipe Club. Member Mark Berman named the blend after the historic Heights area of Houston.

I got a bag of this tobacco from P&c after seeing it reviewed on this site. When I got it, it was totally dried out. It smelled very mellow and maybe a little earthy. When smoked, the tobacco stayed lit and tasted a little bit sweet, but with a stronger smokey flavor in the background. Further, the tobacco smoked dry and produced alot of sweet smelling smoke, which filled my study with a gray haze that lingered in the air long after I was done with my pipe. It was well matched with a Kentucky bourbon (Evan Williams single barrel) that I was drinking this evening.

This tobacco is a great gateway for a new smoker wanting to venture out into the English world. It's a little sweet when smoked dry and may need to be hydrated slightly as PandC ships it very dry. The latikia is predominate but you can pick up the earthiness of the orientals and the sweetness of the green river and matured red cav. I shared this with a new pipe smoker and his impression was where have english blends been all of his life.
