Wow! This really tastes like Pistachios! I never in a million years would have thought that it would be possible to make a tobacco taste just like this unique nut, but here it is. This is a nice aromatic as well, with very light characteristics. I find this was worth the price just for the novelty alone. I probably will not buy more however as it is just not my style, and once the novelty of smoking a nut in your pipe wears off, there is just not much to come back to. I imagine this would be a nice change of pace for hardcore aromatic fanciers out there who will not smoke anything else. The flavor is not very sweet ( in fact the Virginias are almost nonexistant) but instead salty- just like a nut!

Pistachio is another in a series of aromatics by the blender Peter Stokkebye. Fortunately, this is one that is NOT based on tosated black cavendish. These tend to be the better PS blends, IMO.

Perhaps because this has a nut rather than fruit or honey topping, it is only lightly sweet. The pistachio in not an in-your-face topping, but more of a subtle hint of nuttiness. I personally do not find nut flavors all that appealing in tobacco (e.g., Peterson's Sunset Breeze). Compared to Sunset Breeze, Pistachio is quite mild, both on the tobacco side and on the additive side.

Pistachio is a nice change-of-pace smole every now and again, but not one I will visit frequently.

Typically when it comes to aromatics, I’m firmly in the camp that they are, first and foremost, meant for those around you. They’re usually nothing more than hot air as far as perceptible flavor goes.

Stokkebye knocked it out with this one though, as far as aromatics go.

Creamy, mellow, vaguely nutty, very custardy.

An enjoyable change of pace from my usual VaPers and Balkans. Goes well with some morning coffee and a good book.

Like smoking warm water. There's No taste at all. The aroma was nice enough, but nothing amazing. My search for a good tasty nut-flavored tobacco continues.

One of the first blends I have ever tried from my local tobacco shop. This stuff is sweet and leaves an amazing room note. I mixed this with nougot and it was even better. Doesn't burn too hot or leave too much moisture in the bowl either, shocking for an aromatic. Only problem I have with this blend, it's so damn hard to find!

This tobacco is mostly red Virginia, a woody, deep tobacco which, about halfway through the bowl, is catalyzed and finally induced by the heat to release its natural sweetness. This in turn brings out the very lightly applied vanilla topping that until now was non-existent. The pistachio imparts a nuttiness similar to Burley throughout the bowl, but there is a dearth of true pistachio flavor; either the chemical composition of the flavorant is off, or it is improperly applied in proportion to the tobacco. Regardless, those who enjoy Virginia will be somewhat pleased by this tobacco. Those who claim there is "no tobacco taste," betray themselves as pretentious so-called connoisseurs, because the flavor is primarily that of Virginia tobacco. It's just not fermented (i.e., flavorized) as much as it might be for addition to a non-aromatic blend. The Cavendish provides some cooling and sweetness, as well. As far as a pistachio flavored tobacco goes, this is good, but doesn't match the beauty of Ã…lsbo Gold, the best (well, until now, the only) pistachio tobacco that I've smoked.

Let me say that I don't generally seek out Aromatics, but I decided that my friends needed to appreciate something in the room besides (what I perceive as) the rich lustre of my usual VaPers, etc, etc.

Walking out of the Post Office I could smell the simmering peach aroma of this tabak breathing out from amongst my other purchases in their shipping box. I couldn't wait to load a bowl with this perfectly humid blend. The smoke is sweetish, but not like comparably priced aromatics that fowl a pipe with syrup. No gloop or girgle here. Just a warm nutty taste like cashews or almonds joining the rich creme of a Jarsberg or an Emmental cheese. Unlit, the topping changes over time, melding into a warm cookie smell that is just plain nice to have in the room. And the aftertaste is very clean. You can enjoy before or after a meal. Not a strong tobbaco, but rich in consistant flavour.

It is Stokkebe's so the price is definitely right, especially if you buy quantity.
