Peretti Original Mixture

(2.86)
Here is one of our real old favorites once again available. A rich full-flavored aromatic blend, medium strength, slow burning and cool smoking.
Notes: The name of this tobacco is not entirely accurate. The original “Original” is no longer produced due to the loss of an English blending component. This burley based blend has a distinct blend of two aromatics in the subtlest proportions. The combination produces an enchanting room note and a deep taste profile. No Cavendish, no casings, just flavor.

The toasted burley is very nutty with a bit of earth, wood, and a touch of sweetness. I’m not sure what the very floral toppings are, but they have a minor soap note. I suspect coumarin is one of the toppings, and I certainly notice a little anise. They do sublimate the burley to some extent. The strength and taste levels are medium. The nic-hit is closer to medium than it is to mild. This cube cut product burns cool, fairly smooth, a little slow, and requires some relights. Has no dull or weak spots, and a mostly consistent flavor (the toppings weaken just a mite in the last quarter). Leaves virtually no moisture in the bowl. Has a mild, pleasantly lingering after taste. Not a complex blend, it is in the old school tradition of burleys, and if you like that particular style, you may like a medium version of them. More of a two and a half star blend.

This is a nice cool burning burly blend. As with most burleys a well seasoned cob may be in order. This packs with ease as stated by fellow piper SopwithCamel.

The light up on this one was a very new experience for me. This blend has the sweetest most peculiar almost overpowering floral/ perfume like aroma and taste I have ever experienced in any blend. This characteristic of this tobacco dies down to a dim roar about mid bowl. The floral casing takes away from the pleasant nuttiness of the burly in this blend but does keep it tolerable for company. Puff this one slowly........as with most burleys it has a good cap of nicotine and is sure to give you heart burn and a head ache if puffed too diligently.

If you routinely smoke aromatics and are looking for a heavier smoke give this one a try. Original Mixture is not for the faint of heart or novice pipe smoker.
