McClelland Frog Morton on the Town
(3.32)
A rather mellow smoke, McClelland's Frog Morton on the Town draws deep rich flavor from its base of golden and red Virginias and a pleasant smoky, earthy undertone from the latakia. A subtle flavoring from Basma (a Greek Oriental tobacco) gives the blend a unique, almost vanilla like flavor.
Notes: The name Frog Morton comes to us from the works of JRR Tolkien. Frogmorton: A village in the Eastfarthing of the Shire. It stood on the East Road, between the Three-farthing Stone (fourteen miles to the west) and the Brandywine Bridge (twenty-two miles to the east). Immediately to the north of the village, the stream known as the Water broke into two, creating a wide watery region - this feature seems to have given Frog Morton its name, which means "frog marsh".

this is a very smooth and tasteful english blend. easy to smoke with a little touch of latakia, you can taste it smell it but it is not overwhelming. i smelled vanilla like smell, but it is definitely not an aromatic.
i highly recommend this blend if you like an easy smoke english blend.

I like this blend. There's a natural sweetness that shines through from the Virginia and/or Cavendish (although not specified) that's in perfect harmony with the woodsy/earthy Latakia & Basma Oriental. This is far from being a "Latakia Bomb" nor is it overbearing in Vitamin N, but you'll know there's some there. I prefer my Latakia blends in moderation as I enjoy a multitude of sweet/savory flavors & aromas that spring forth throughout the smoking session. Heck if I'm just after the proverbial "Nic rush" or a mouthful of smoky tobacco taste ... I'll place a big ole pinch of Copenhagen snuff between my cheek & gum ... and that'll take care of that! In summary, this is a good flavorful blend that's certainly worth a try. I think I'll even give the other Frog Morton blends a whirl for comparison. Stay tuned.

You must let this blend breath for several days as it is a bit moist. I love Frog Morton but this is Frog Morton super lite! Just not that flavorful for me and that small amount of flavor came and went. Room note was not near as nice as their other brands. Burns cool and very little bite noticed. Frog Morton I give an A on the town I give C-

In short the tobacco is good... It's gentle and smooth. it is the lighter version of Frog Mortons Craftbury Series. It does nothing great and everything good. It's a high quality leaf, smokey, dry, slightly slightly spicy, creamy smoke. I'll be sure to have some around. I waited about 6 months to make this review... had the tobacco stored in a glass jar for that time. Better when it ages.

Everyone always talks about this tobacco. I was at pipe club and a tin was passed round. Packs well. Lights well. Smokes well. Tastes so mild I an not real sure if this is tobacco at all. It is bland with little taste and I feel is made for a new smoker. I will pass on the Frog and jump to something stronger of a blend for me.

Not a heavy hitter and yet so delicious tasting. I usually think of Latakia/English blends as nighttime blends, but this one I'll go for morning noon and night.

This tobacco is a great English blend! The latakia is less prevalent than the original FM, it is used as a flavoring agent alone. There is a creamy nuttiness to it that I haven't found in any of the other FM series. The orientals are highlighted by the latakia and a subtle casing is added. I have smoked it hot and cool and have never been bitten. This one is definitely a keeper.

At first I wasn't sure about this - it was pretty wet, smoked hot, and was very inconsistent. After about a month though, it mellowed out and has become one of my favorite "all day" blends. I rarely have to re-visit unless I'm abnormally determined to get that last bit at the bottom, and I don't think I could make it burn too hot if I tried. It tastes slightly nutty in the retro have, but has an overall mild flavor to the point that I can almost forget about it if I'm doing something else. If you're looking for something smooth and unassuming, this would be my number one recommendation.

I've been smoking a lot of Squadron Leader, McClelland Three Oaks, and G.L. Pease Abingdon lately and have liked them all, loved them even ... but it turns out this is what I've been waiting for all along. Amazing! Mild, yet flavourful, I can taste the latakia but I taste so many other things as well and my mouth doesn't feel dirty afterward. In fact, the aftertaste is ... almost fruity? I'm having a bowl right now with a brown ale and I wish I could conjure up the words to describe this tobacco ... but I'm just not an experienced enough pipe smoker to manage it. All I know is that I've found my desert island blend.

This is what you need to know about this blend. It is the best non full-bodied English I've ever smoked. Its taste is light, but this allows the latakia to stand out beautifully. Perfectly blended and something I could smoke all day every day for the rest of my life. Also, I've never seen such a pretty looking tobacco with so many different colors. An absolute masterpiece. No tongue bite, and smoked as cool as a cucumber.
