This is an excellent Burley tobacco with a mild but very pleasing vanilla aroma in the bag (bulk only); no heavy aromatic goop here. It packs well, lights well and smokes well. The room aroma is wonderful, wife approved, with a hint of vanilla in the room note it seems to me. I'm a Burley guy and this is damn good.
More tobacco flavor would be nice, but this is a delightful smoke, a solid 4, easily. I have lots of bulk and tinned tobaccos around, but frequently reach for this one. In fact, rare is the day I don't have a bowlful of Burley Mild. I have only been able to find Burley Mild by the way at a local head shop, strange to tell; can't find it online. If tobacconists carrying Lane bulks knew how good this one is, they would definitely lay this one in.
Highly recommended for Burley lovers and especially for newer smokers, who often are guided to Carter Hall and Prince Albert -- but this is better than either, if you can find it. Burley Mild also works great for mixing down stronger or bite-y tobaccos.

This is my granola bar between chewy whole meal bowls. The room note is sweet, buttery with a little grassy-ness, but not a bad grassy, like freshly reaped hay. I enjoy a bowl of this at least once a day, but I also use it to mix down some of my heavier English blends, about half and half is a great way to enliven the taste buds in the morning, IMO.
If you are prone to a heavier tobacco taste and have a tongue of steel, this will be of no interest to you. But, when I get lazy with my cadence on the pipe with a heavier mix (maybe while on an exciting day of fishing), my tongue can use a light burley like this, so that my tongue can rest a bit.
This one definitely gets the big jar in my collection.
Happy piping!!

When I simply must have burley, I reach for this or for MacBaren Burley London Blend.
This tobacco is not really "long cut," I would describe it as more of a square cut, but I quibble.
It has a distinctive burley pouch aroma, with pronounced butterscotch overtones. It is not cased. It may be lightly topped, but I could be wrong. It has a delicious, unmistakably nutty burley flavor, particularly during the first third of a bowl. The room note is especially nice. My wife's favorite.
It burns fairly well, leaving a medium to dark grey ash. Unfortunately, it usually develops some bitterness during the last third and must be dumped.
I do blend this, usually with McClelland 5100. My own Half & Half. Yum!

Pure Tennessee chopped white Burley with mild sweetner. The sweetner is very restrained, and assures the tobacco a plesant aroma. Would be a good change of pace tobacco,or a good mixer. Really good high quality AA Burley grown right here in the Volunteer State. Tastes wonderful, give it a try!
