Very bland.... waste of money. I won't waste your time with a long review. Just go for Prince Albert or any other burley instead. Great for people who like the taste of cigarettes.

This used to be a big seller at the tobacconist I worked for when I was a much younger man. I smoked it on occasion It used to have a more uniform cube cut then and seemed to have a richer flavor. I still find this blend just as designed. Very non complex and straight forward almost to the point of bland. It's an okay blend for breaking in a new pipe but not a go too. It does have a nice pouch note and room note to match. I prefer Carter Hall over this smoke and probably won't buy it again.

Straight up Burley a little on the mild side. Short on Vitamin N. Nice aroma. I enjoy smoking this in a cob as is, also mixed it equal parts with Lanes Black Cavendish.

Lets start by saying a straight up burley is a little tough to describe. There is little to go on from available blender information, but from its flavor there appears to be a light casing involved. True to its name it does not bite – whether or not this is the defining characteristic of this blend is arguable. The taste of this tobacco is not objectionable and I like to give it the occasional try just to keep things interesting. It has a discernable sweetness to it and is a nice backdrop to those times when one doesn't want anything more nuanced than just a simple pipe of tobacco.

I received a nice sample of this last week from a fellow club member. I have seen this blend advertised in various pipe magazines along with other Lane blends for ages. Probably one of there more popular blends. This is a medium brown tobacco and according to the web site a ready rubbed cut of tobacco. My first thought was that this was cube cut but either way the cut is of very small pieces vice long ribbon cut. This has a very sweet tin note which more than one reviewer has alluded to coconut. Very well could be, in the smoke I detected a sweet coco, vanilla essence. Burn and taste is consistent. Since this is a Burley blend, I chose no less a General Corn Cob and went through my 3-bowl sample. A good every day blend but if I were to chose, I would just go with Carter Hall, Prince Albert, etc.

Nice coarse cut burley blend, with a fantastic chocolate/vanilla aroma, a great OTC type blend, some will say more so aromatic than OTC, but it smokes well and tastes great, primarily get the aromatic flavor for once, vs hot air.

Easy to gravity feed out of my tobacco pouch, something I’ve been smoking on my drive to work, purchased 2 oz for a great price online and would add this down the road.

Great room note, smokes cool and have not gotten bitten yet. Two dimensional, although I really have to prolong my sips to get more nutty flavor.

This will be a short review. No taste, just warm air. I'm not joking this had zero flavor for me. I don't know what else to say. You have been warned.

*6 months later - I have smoked a fair amount of this now, and have broken in some pipes with it. Whilst I don't want to change my original review, I think it is worth pointing out that I have noticed some ghosting, and thus I wont be using it again to brake in a new pipe.

I'd been wanting to try this for a while after seeing it ranked on Smoking pipes top 11 best selling Burley's. Now I can see why it sell's so well.

Let me start by saying I'm certainly not a Burley aficionado, so this new territory for me, but I am very impressed. Essentially this tobacco does exactly what you'd expect. Looks like I expect, smells like I'd expect, and most certainly tastes as I was expecting.

Taking a good whiff from the bag, this smells great, nutty with vanilla and almost cookie dough (which I'll come back to). It has a good moisture content out the bag, packs great and lights exceptionally well. It burns well and continues to throughout the bowl, I imagine this could be good for breaking in pipes.

It tastes great, as I said, exactly as you'd expect. You get a great rich nutty flavour almost, really reminds me of hazel nuts. The vanilla comes through a little, but what I love I can only describe as cookie dough. I don't know if it's the nutty cookie dough, but I find this tobacco very moreish. If you really puff on it, you get a bit of spice, but it doesn't bite at all.

Overall I'd highly recommend this tobacco. I only got 1oz, but I'll be back to buy more for sure.

I stayed away from Burleys for a long time on the suggestion of my tobacconist, but one day I found this labelled as "Papa's Pouch" at a small cigar shop, and out of the few choices they had, this smelled the best in the jar. So, I tried it.

It is a Burley blend, mild, slightly nutty/earthy naturally. But, the casing I believe is coconut. I don't remember where I heard/read this but it makes sense. At first I thought it was vanilla, or some kind of vanilla/almond/who-knows-what casing concoction, but indeed coconut makes the most sense when I think of it as I'm smoking it.

I really like this, it's simple, hard to not enjoy, but I must be in the mood for a no-fuss, and, for me a very mild smoke. Slightly sweet, at least on my palette because of the casing. This isn't the best Burley out there by any means but it's a good place to start if you're like me and want to transition away from the heavily cased aromatics to something a bit more natural. Now this blend is one of only two semi-aromatic blends I keep in my rotation. And, as other reviewers have mentioned it will ghost a briar, so beware. I tend to smoke this in the same pipe as my MacBaren Navy Flake, which is the only other cased tobacco I smoke. For me they don't clash if the bowl is ghosted by either.

I will warn you, it may claim to be Without Bite, but it will bite you if you puff away looking for more of that delicious flavor. It's bitten me more than once, I put it on par with the infamous MacBaren bite. So, puff slowly, and don't go trying to coax anymore out of it than it gives. I've made that mistake hoping for a more robust, fuller smoke out of this. It is what it is, mild, smooth, with a room note reminiscent of your grandpa's workshop.

Having a very nice relationship over the last 20 years of Pipesmoking with Lane Limited Blends, I was very pleased to discover BLWB recently. It is sold under the name "Sweet Burley" at my local B&M. I have smoked English, VaPers, and Aromatics of all kinds, and am rarely disappointed with Lane's selection. And this is no exception. I found out through a little research that the light topping applied to this baccy is actually Coconut! Sounds awful, but it translates into a very mild, flavorful smoke! While it indeed will bite if puffed too aggresively, in BLWB's defense, so does all other Burley Blends out there, IMHO...But this is by far the one with the least amount of bite. I have become very sensitive to Nicotine as I approach middle age, and BLWB has little to no nico-kick, which is just fine with me. I would recommend this fine baccy to both novice and longtime pipers without hesitation!
