Frankly, my "GO TO" Burley...I find it not as "goopy" as it use to be and I always keep a pound or two around as I sometimes will smoke only this for a few days...
Smokes well in any size pipe and any time of day/night...
The aroma is unforgettable... and no other Burley has that specific trait...
As others have noted..."Light .. NO bite...

Since I am new in this forum, let me say that I have been a burley based smoker for for 36 years so I tend in that direction but I actually smoke burley based English Blends with a touch of a sweetener on the Latakia. But when I smoke my corncob I like more of a straight burley type blend for a simple clean smoke which is how I had this blend on hand.
I moved to a new house eight years ago and lost a bag of this tobacco during the move. I just found it going through old boxes in my attic and decided to see what I have. I opened the bag and it actually felt and smelled smokable. I did not have to add a thing to revive it! But it was much drier and it actually mellowed a lot upon smoking it even though burleys are not like virginias in getting better with aging. This defied that logic however and became a very creamy, nutty smoke with just a faint hint of the vanilla and that room aroma that people comment favorably on. I really think the secret to smoking this tobacco is to really dry it out before smoking. I am able now to smoke it all the way down without even a trace of wetness and it is still as gentle as it can be. I never have understood how anybody, especially a virginia or aromatic smoker could ever call this a tongue burner. I give it a three star for what it is and just take away one for what it isn't.

I bought this at a B & M while on the road. All I had with me on this trip was some lat blends. I put this in a pipe and thought it tasted great, but later tried it after smoking some other blends and its inferiority soon started to show. Still it is not all bad.
It is a good no brainer for when you are into something and not paying much attention to your pipe. It does smoke cool and biteless as the title describes and the room note is non offensive and gives off an old codger aroma that will win you praise from the non smokers.
It is just not too exciting. It is called a burley, but would land more in the mild aromatic range in my opinion. If you are looking for burley, I would start at many other blends before this one as it does not give you an accurate indicator of what burley tastes like under the topping.
I'm going two stars on this as it wasn't bad and it is both affordable and available.

I bought this tobacco 28 years ago for a Prince Albert Alternative. It became my favorite for years till I discovered Black Cavendish.I still smoke this occasionally. It is a good nutty burley tobacco with hints of cocoa and does not bite. The room note is chocolate, sometimes cookies baking in the oven.I have found out over the years that I just love Lane's Tobaccos thank you!

This blend took me by surprise; I wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much. Picked up an ounce at our local Smoke Shop (in an electronics repair shop), looking for a bland burley to blend with. Today I smoked a bowl of it and was amazed at the fine smoke this stuff makes. I'm on my second bowl just to see if I was dreaming. I wasn't dreaming, this tobacco is tasty! It's a relatively mild blend in terms of nicotine intensity. And there's not a lot of depth or complexity, just smooth, mild Burley flavor. The smoke is rich in body and flavor yet mild in terms of nicotine impact. What I've got is not a ribbon cut but more of a mixed cut with some short ribbon pieces and mostly irregular oblong pieces of small-medium size. The tobacco feels light and soft and packs into the bowl readily. It's not really sweet but is smooth and kind of nutty in flavor. The room note is pleasant but not overbearing. Both times I smoked it in an Orlik Captain Black billiard. This tobacco burns cool and relatively dry and stays lit easily.

This is a wonderful burley in a world of complex pipe smokers. It pacts well lights well and smokes superbly. you can mix it with almost anything and improve it.And it does get a mellow taste with age.Sometimes its nice to have an uncomplicated tobacco that gives you pleasure over and over again.I smoke many different tobaccos and blends blwb keeps a place in my rotation. Just bought another 20lbs.I use it to break in my Vipratis.after 50+ years of pipe smoking this one is good for the beginner or experienced smoker .4 stars for sure!

One word: NASTY
20 years ago this was an entirely different tobacco. Back then it was in big chunks, kind of an 'irregular cube' cut.
We had our pipe smoking contest tonight and when I heard that we would be using Burley Light I wasn't too sad; From what I remembered this was a cool smoking and fairly decent tobacco for an aromatic.
This current stuff resembles floor sweepings! The cut is nothing like it used to be and the moisture content must have been 25% or more.
Sorry guys, this stuff is horrid. If you want a decent aromatic buy some Captain Black "White Label" and be done with it.

I know this blend is claimed to be an aromatic, but it didn't strike me that way. I feel this blend is more of a straight burley. Admittedly, the cocoa and vanilla comes through, but these additives are pretty low key, for me. What I get is more of the nuttiness often found in a good burley. This is a good thing! The blend is relatively light and, for those who don't like a heavy handed blend, like me, it's almost perfect. Lane does burley well, good job.

Lane BL/WB: a review
I had been sampling a lot of different blends of aromatics, and while liking some of them, they always seemed lacking. The added flavoring would wane as I smoked down the bowl, and I was left with nothing but an acrid, bitter taste towards the end. The common denominator to these blends was that they contained burley, so I concluded that I must not like burley. I've tried Half & Half, a burley and bright blend, and never cared much for it.
But then I made a wonderful discovery, a jar of tobacco I had set aside a year ago, labeled “BL/WB.” I tried it in one of my corn cob pipes, and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. It was mellow, but not lacking in flavor. It smoked well, not needing the frequent relights which some tobaccos require. The taste was, as many describe, a nutty flavor. There's a somewhat earthy taste as well. Another thing about BL/WB is that it smokes the same all the way to the bottom of the bowl. If anything, it improves somewhat towards the end, with a subtle taste of cocoa married to the nutty flavor. BL/WB burns down to a fine white ash with very little dottle.
BL/WB burns easily but not quickly, so the smoker is not required to constantly puff on his pipe, or risk its going out. The result is that BL/WB lives up to its name, in that there is normally no tongue bite with it.
The original tobacco I smoked was aged a year, but I have bought more of it and have not experienced any decline in this fine tobacco's attributes. This has become my go-to tobacco. Burleys collectively have been labeled “codger” blends. If my smoking experience is reduced to BL/WB in a corn cob pipe, I won't consider myself deprived.
