Right out of the pouch this tobacco smells good, with just a hint of whiskey. At first, it seemed to bite a bit, but after the first puff or two, the bite went away and the smoke was milder than I had expected. Its taste was not overwhelmed by the alcohol flavor, in fact, it was barely noticeable, which was nice. I did have a hard time keeping the bowl lit and had to relight it several times before I was done. In retrospect, however, I may have packed the bowl to firmly, which may have been the cause of my problem keeping the fire going.

This tobacco was my first shot at a whiskey flavored weed. The tobacco is mild and the flavoring is fairly prominent in this one. EGB is moist in the pouch but I didn't dry it. The cherry stays lit with a charring light then another spark. No bite to be had. Consistent throughout the bowl with a whiskey flavor and a sweeter flavor, call it cake or pastry but the whiskey is not alone here and the combination is nice. EGB won't disappoint or knock anybody's socks off but will deliver a good pipe while mowing lawn or feeding the chickens or some such. The tobacco here is similar to Cest La Vie, Skandinavik, and maybe even Troost. This leads me to believe that STG uses the same base tobacco with different flavoring for these blends. They are all good but no epiphanies are to be had with any of them. Based on my experiences here, I most likely won't be smoking any more whiskey blends. I prefer my bourbon drank, not smoked.

Wow! Wish this was available OTC around here. Pouch note is a mild sweetness, and you can certainly smell the whiskey. I have tried other whiskey cased blends and they were too bitter or astringent from the alcohol. I personally am not a straight whiskey drinker so if you are and expect straight whiskey flavor it’s not found here. However you can certainly taste the whiskey on the light and throughout the smoke. This flavor is not alone as it’s complimented by sweet undertones which help to mellow and round the experience. This sweetness comes through in a delectable room note. My wife didn’t complain.... Definitely one I will try again and will most likely buy some pouches and cellar them in a jar. Quite enjoyable, really. It’s easy to puff away and it doesn’t even nip your tongue.

I’m surprised to see the number of reviews that say this tobacco is a biter. I’m admittedly a pretty heavy puffer and I had no problems. That being said, I was smoking it an old deep meer I have that tends to smooth out the rough edges of a tobacco. I guess I could see how it would bite if you puffed really hard on a cob, for instance.
The flavors are all very subtle - this is not a delectable dessert tobacco so much as a generally pleasant, balanced all-day smoke.

First puff, a strong alcohol taste like a fine brandy tobacco. Second puff, a strong artificial chemical taste. Third puff, amazingly the chemical taste dissipates and the strong liquor fades. The remainder of the bowl tastes similar to Irish Cream. Although the whisky does fade it is still very much present all the way to the end. Fortunately the chemical taste disappears after it rears it's head at the start. The tobacco is very moist and requires drying to smoke properly, however appears to be of a decent quality. A step above the usual Lane Ltd/STG OTC rubbage. Cheers.

Beautifully looking and smelling tobacco in the pouch. It smells sweet, earthy, and just a bit of whiskey-note. Burns well, but can be a bit hot. Smoke is creamy and pleasant, without being too sweet. Flavors of sweet earthy and tobacco leather with just a hint of vanilla. It was a decent smoke, but nothing that really impressed me above other blends, other than the name and the topping used...made me have to buy and try it. Good tobacco to try.

As is my experience with STG blends, the basic taste behind this tobacco is Half and Half. The difference with this blend is that the H&H taste steps back a little and lets the whiskey get a little more attention. It does have a little more oiliness than regular H&H, but it did nothing other than make my mouth feel like an oil slick.
A pleasant aromatic with a good room note and no bite.

This is a great blend in all aspects. It smokes cool, it tastes great, it has a good room note, and the price is awesome! I got it in a sampler from P&C, and I must admit that I really wasn't looking forward to trying it at first. I've never been a fan of whiskey blends because they always burned too hot or tasted like burning charcoal. When I opened the pouch, I was immediately greeted with a mellow whiskey aroma. The tobacco itself was a mixed cut that was densely packed in the pouch. It was at just the right moisture as well - no drying necessary, which is rare for a cheap aromatic. It packed wonderfully into a cob.
It lights on one match. The flavor is rather one-dimensional, but isn't that why you smoke whiskey blends anyway? I got some interesting notes: nuts, wood smoke, a hint of dried fruit, maple syrup. It was a great smoke! I can taste burley in this blend very well. Overall, I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good aromatic that provides a change of pace at a bargain price. I'll keep some around.

If you read the reviews by jiminxx and kinjj and a few of the others, my sentiment are exact to theirs. This is easy to smoke, good mild flavor, easy to light, stays lit. It did not burn my tongue at all like Borkum riff has a tendency to do. But we all smoke differently, so you might not agree with me. I usually smoke english, balkan or old time half and half. This is a nice flavor to change off a bit.

Good tobacco with a medium flavoring, but not too much, as well as the taste. I really enjoy the whiskey. I will have to update this review after I spend more time with this blend.
