Purchased from cup o'joes, in bulk I wouldn't say spicy virginia for this blend. It's more like earthy citrus, cacao and some light chocolate and nuts (oily) when burns hotter than normal. Don't expect the spicy touch of virginia, at least I haven't noticed it at all. Burning well when slightly dried, otherwise it just gives me a nice tongue-bite which I normally never experience. Still, the blend is somewhat good, since I personally like citrus and cacao notes even separately, it combines both surprisingly. Would I buy again? Maybe some years later to see if I still can love it.

Comoy's of London - Cask #9 Spiced Virginia (Comoy's).
The tobacco's practically a shag, quite dark, with a sweet, aromatic, aroma; albeit, a mild aroma, not heavy.
The smoke, to me, seems to be more of a Virginia, Cavendish, aromatic one. I find the Burley very lightly included. The toppings aren't at all heavy, the vanilla's the stronger of the bunch, but still nowhere near being 'sticky'. The chocolate and nougat sit much further back, lending the smoke just a touch of character. The burn's good in the fact it doesn't require much attention, but a bad point can be the speed.
Nicotine: mild. Room-note: pleasant.
I rate #9 with two stars, not higher, solely because although it's not a bad smoke it's boring:
Somewhat recommended.

Cask No.9 is a fairly easygoing smoke, the bright Virginias are sweet and grassy with a slight tartness, cigarette-like. The Cavendish is earthy and creamy vanilla. The nougat flavors are coconut forward and the cask spice is woody with a nutmeg hint, cocoa flavors are subdued. Pack firmly to avoid harshness. Somewhat bitter, burns clean to ash and leaves very little moisture behind.

I don't get any nicotine, but wasn't expecting any. Moisture level perfect. All golden leaf cut in a fine ribbon. I taste a spicy vanilla on my tongue, but no sweetness. Minimal relights, and smokes dry.

This is a heavy cased aromatic. Upon opening the tin heavy raisins and bread notes are easily perceived, along with some cocoa. RIbbons are very tiny and my tin came on the humid side.
It burns easily but one can easily over puff this mixture. It´s more a bland tobacco even though the casing. You can also taste the tobacco, but in a very uninteresting way.

Comoy's does a bang-up job of harmonizing the flavors in their aromatics. No single component sticks out in their blends, and Cask #9 is no exception. This isn't a nougat aro, a vanilla aro, or even a sweet Virginia aro. It's just Cask No. 9, nothing more or less. Which means it's great.

The stuff has little to no aromatic quality. Smells and tastes like a cigar to me. Smells bad burning and room note is cigar. Also bites like hell I smoked it too fast once and it blistered my lip. Overall not really a fan and not one I'd buy again.

Reading the reviews, I'm rather surprised that Cask No.9 is not more popular. Yes it did take me more than a few bowls to get the feel for this blend but I rather like it, especially first thing with a cup of Liptons tea.
It appears that I'm the only one that does not pick up on the vanilla in either the bag note or the taste. Cocoa is the predominant flavouring that is applied lightly so that one tastes actual tobacco. The Virginias are obvious as one would expect. If there's Burley I'll take the word of those with a more developed palate. [Although I don't taste it, Virginia blends benefit with a dash of Burley. It takes off the edge] There is a touch of spiciness that I like. #9 does tingle the tongue but it does not bite.
Burns well, smokes cool. Leaves little to no moisture burning to ash. Mild, tasty, smooth and does not bite. Mild nicotine. Could easily be an all day smoke. If I had nothing else I would not complain.
2.2 stars. Really? Where's the love? Highly recommended for beginners and those who enjoy smooth, mild semi-aromatics. Also a good introduction to Virginia blends.
