I was sure that I would get a heavy English impression when smoking my sample of European Widgeon many years ago (back with David Windsor would send you several samples along with your order). Instead, I got a lot of the grassy undertones provided by Bright Virginia which this offering had plenty of. The Latakia presence was way more subdued than I thought it would be, but played nicely with the Virginias. More flavor than strength in this one.

My tastes have changed in a year and i find i reach for something with more flavor but this is a very nice blend. Excellent quality and a fine company to deal with.

This blend comes as a dark brown broken flake mostly small pieces that benefit from a little rubbing out.It pack easily and lights easily. The top third of the bowl starts strong then mellows as you get down the bowl. The sweetness of the Virginias is nicely balanced by the nutty flavor of fine latkia. The latakia stays with you throughout the bowl never overpowering the mellow Virginia. This is a very nice English for an all day smoke. It should age well and will be a part of my everyday rotation for a long time to come.
