Peter Stokkebye Cherry Bonbon (No. 305)
(3.53)
The spectacular flavor and aroma of European cherry lend an air of sophistication to this blend’s agreeably sweet aftertaste. An additional casing sauce is used to under-score the mellow mildness of our world-renowned Black Cavendish. A medium loose cut.

The toasted sugar sweet black cavendish provides the base for the mild cherry and chocolate toppings. The toppings have no chemical or artificialness to them. Has no bite, and won’t get harsh. Has little nicotine. It’s a little closer to mild than it is to medium in strength and taste. Burns at a reasonable rate, cool and clean with smooth, mostly consistent flavor. The toppings do weaken just a mite in the last quarter. Needs few relights, and leaves just a little moisture in the bowl. Has a pleasant after taste and room note. An easy going all day smoke.

I am a very new pipe smoker and so far have been pretty limited in what types of tobacco I have been able to acquire. The local smoke shops carry exclusively aromatics. I decided to give this one a shot even though I have typically not like cherry flavor when added to things. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed smoking this blend. I would recommend that anyone considering a cherry blend give this one a chance.

Finally, a truly excellent cherry flavored aromatic!
It's not too moist or heavily cased like many cheaper aromatics, and It doesn't bite at all - surprising considering it's a bulk aro. The topping is really nice, and isn't overly sweet, and it's clear the underlying Black Cavendish tobacco is of high quality. The smokey cherry-chocolate flavor is fantastic, and blends together in sweet harmony.
Cherry Bonbon is delectable, yum! One of the best aros I've ever tried!

I've been curious recently about the cherry blends. Of the 25 years I've been smoking a pipe, I never tried one. My recollection is of cheap OTC pouch blends that are too sweet and too moist. Still, there seem to be a lot of them available. Doing research, I found this particular blend to be the highest rated. Since I could buy in bulk(1 oz) at a low price, why not. I was surprised. the cherry is rather subdued. The cavendish toasty, yet light. Nothing overpowers. It's not an all day smoker for me, however it may be for others. My one complaint is I wish there was more tobacco flavor. It's not that the cherry overwhelmed as much as the tobacco underwhelmed. Maybe some burley would help.

If you like Black Cavendish cherry aromatics then you'll love this blend.
The moisture level is close to ideal.
The pouch note is definitely a cocoa/chocolate and cherry aroma to it.
It loads well and takes a light nicely. Just a char light and true light a nice light tamp and you're good to go. It burns nice and evenly and fairly cool.
The cherry and chocolate/cocoa flavors come through at a great pace, not too overwhelming.
If you're on the mission to find a cherry tobacco you enjoy the taste of and people will enjoy the aroma of then give this one a try.
