This blend had a melange of flavors, ranging from anise, molasses, citrus and dried fruit that didn't totally take over the grassy, citrusy Virginia, but muted it considerably. There was some vanilla and maybe a touch of honey, too. Had a mild nic-hit. Burned well and dry, though maybe a little bitey towards the finish. Left no real moisture in the bowl, and hardly needed a relight. The after taste was fairly pleasant. An all day smoke.

I suppose there is an added topping of some sort on this light Virginia blend, sort of in the same vein as a few of McClelland's lightly topped Virginias. The tobacco taste is full bu there is a sweetness that just can't be natural. The leaf, as is the case with most of the Dunhill blends, was well aged and put together nicely. The Virginia was just too light for me to enjoy, but the added flavoring was very natural with no fruity or alcohol based notes. I suspect that their term "Aromatic" blend was due to the room note. My wife loved it.

Its been a long time since i smoked ths one and had forgotten it completely until i found a peice of A4 with my pencil notes on it.

Dryish compared to other aromatics i have smoked;this was a compliant burner strait out of the tin.

Quality was felt - this was not an average sickly sweetshop gloopy confection;it had that quality dunhill tin aroma - simular actually to "dunhill international cigarettes"

Taste:cane sugar or something natural like a maple essense flapjack,,,perhaps tropical mixture(like what you can purchase in health shops by the bag)eg dried bananas, pineapple, coconut, amoretos,,,rum and coconut,,,fruit and nuts,,? whatever..

The brocken flake parts in mine which i identified as having a simular nutty note to "petersons university flake" keeps things serious as a counterpoint to the sweeter elements, and added a dry toasted wallnuts taste to the mix..

Contents appearance:golden yellows, browny, burnt orange, leafy and roughly cut like petal leafs ala potpouri(not ribbons)black cavendish pellets & what appeared to be a brown/grey burleyish/virginia maybe broken flake parts(possibly borrowed from their own "dunhill light flake" maybe?

This did not bite at all like a lot of aromatics i had tried up to that point - i smoked this in a "peterson 305 smooth medium calabash" with the obvious moisture trap system..

If i had to obtain another aromatic which i don't mind every once in a while - this would be a good choice - its well behaved for an aromatic and seemed to smoke OK out of doors in the wind.. (My memory on this appart from my old notes is very vague,,,but i can remember now where i was smoking it and that i purchased it as a lucky dip buy and try it.)

Not too wet in the tin means i could smoke without further ado - aromatics are tricky to smoke - let them dry out too much and the flavouring fades or changes;smoke them too wet & its hello the tongue bitting ferret,,;i got through the whole tin quite quick while the going was good, which was probably a few days so i cannot comment much about shelf life after opening or cellaring etc.

I used to inhale my pipes - and i can remember this when i was cycling to work the week after - ;i felt i couldn't get any fresh air in my lungs - i could breath OK,but there wasn't that usual minty internal depth of air feeling... This went away by the end of the week, but it goes to show how a heavy weekend of puffing and inhaling needs a few days layoff.

I was impressed also by the way it didn't shit my pipe up too much everytime, which mean't i didn't have to keep pulling my pipe apart and swabbing out gunk..It wasn't a gurgler either,,,my pipe still needed a clean at the end of the day but not after every smoke..

Update;i have no idea if this is even available anymore or not but the notes i made on this was when i was predominantly an aromatic man(long time ago);i had not discovered ropes and plugs yet,but i feel it was an OK smoke and reading my notes in my own words has brought back a total recal of a forgotten memory..

This was the first pipe tobacco I ever tried. The tobacco quality is, needless to say, very good. It is obviously cavendish rich and flavoured with aniseed or liqourice which only comes through mildly in the smoke, so don't worry if your have a particular aversion to these flavours. It has quite a strong body, and high in nicotine. Since I smoked this so long ago I cant offer a more in depth description. You shouldn't need to go out of your way to get this unless your really like Liqorice flavoured aromatics.

This is a very consistently well cut tobacco, thinnish style but quite dry - which as a Cavendish fan is not always a good thing... This smoked hot! Packing is not as straight forward as it should have been, it's also tricky to keep lit. A strong draw every now and again will keep it going, but at the cost of burning very hot. The flavour is a pleasant Virginia very smooth - I could hardly detect the small amounts of Cavendish, but on an aesthetic note it looks and smells gorgeous in the pouch!

I found this an astonishingly strong blend - indeed I smokd it at a friend's house, watching some tv... I stood up and had to immediately sit down again - nicotine and I don't get on, and this is full of it!

Apart from the flatness of the blend and the nausea it induced in me it's a good regular tobacco - I may use it to give more VA flavour to my gloopier Cavendish blends but I can't see it becoming a part of my rotation.
