Good but not memorable when comparing to Dunhill London mixture. Both are selling Oriental taste. I do not consider it price worthwhile though I am addicts to V and O. Davidoff is only good at cigars market.

What a tobacco! Opening the tin you instantly know you have an exceptional tobacco on your hands. Beautiful buttery smoky tin note, and a perfect gold and brown cut. Packs very easily, burns slowly to the heel without problem. Lighting reveals wonderful sweet, complex, buttery notes (flavoured or not) from the oriental with a pleasant smokiness from the Latakia, which last throughout the smoke. Room note is refined, sweet and smoky, unique. Absolute classic. Every pipe smoker should try it.

Round about 25 years or was it 30 years ? i tried Davidoff English and Davidoff Oriental.

Both stuffs was very flat for me.

So i was very sceptic a few years later as a tobaconist in Munich Germany recomanded me to try the new Davidoff Royalty.

Well i tried it and found it good, but not so much as Dunhill Standard Medium or even Dunhill EMP.

Just a few years ago as Orlik take over from Murray the Dunhill Manufactoring i remembered on Davidoff Royalty to give it another try.

And yes i could stand beside the Dunhills. Maybe my licking has changed and although it was in the springtime (may ?)

Nicotin middle off the road - level as EMP or Dunie Standard. Latakia level as EMP. Taste very much at the same level, plus more nutty butter. One of the few very good summertime English mixtures

And the virginias have a good portion of age from the beginning - a very fine attest for the Manufactur.

They present it in a very fine and restrained tin. The name Royalty ? okay Davidoff stands for quality.

Mello, sweet and spicy all at once with an after taste that grows more complex as your bowl descends. I liked it very much, having smoked it in a Maestro De Paja bent billiard that has a bit of a tight draw. With that, still no bite. The tobacco is beautiful in the tin, blonds, reds and dark ribbons all uniform and well packed; an odor of smokiness (the Va?) and some light undertone of fruit sneaks in if you wait for it, all is very light to the nose. At first I thought this was going to be a somewhat bland smoke, after a bit of a mellow start (nothing wrong with that) the flavors built to a very nice subtle English/Oriental mix, with neither characteristic really overpowering or becoming subservient to the other. I love it. On a useless bit, the tin?s packaging is lovely, you get this wonderful ring of paper to pack within to keep from spilling. I have not purchased any of the tins that have this to date, very considerate and charming. This will be the first time I do not immediately transfer to a jar, I am going to keep it in the tin for a bit. Being a Father?s Day gift I am not at liberty to say if this was worth the price, as so many often complain about in relation to this brand, however, if I had the money and were in a shop I do think I would grab a tin from time to time and savor it because it is unique; spicy and mild all at once, English and somehow ?not? so. If I were to say to myself ?I can get _____ that is just as good for less money? I would miss out on a great deal of variety in my life. I think it is worth it to have a few things I splurge on from time to time, and do every now-&-again. I will do so with Davidoff?s if they are like this. Namaste?

There is a smooth creamy nuttiness to this blend that is most enjoyable. Think cashew butter. The Latakia component is rather condimental, no campfire smoke in your face. By mid-bowl some delicious flavors emerge, almost like rice pudding, which makes me wonder what kind of flavor steering might have been used here for the creamy sweetness. This tasty creaminess also tends to mute some of the higher notes we usually associate with blends having Turkish leaf. Somewhere I read that Orlik uses a butter-flavored additive, which explains the distinctive feel on the palate (not actual butter as that would be unstable, I’m sure). For me this is more of a 3.5 level of enjoyment because it is mostly all mid-palate, without the depth of more Latakia or upper tones from the Turks, but for its sheer distinctiveness I’m giving four stars. Not sure I’ll ever buy another tin, but I’m glad I got to experience this unique blend.

The blend is unique amongst the Davidoff series. it is a medium English blend focusing on the Virginia and Orientals with truely a pinch of Latakia.

The Orientals add a nice simple spice that is well accented by the sublte sweetness of the Virginias. The Latakia plays nicely giving it a nice overall flavor with a hint of smokey flavor.

Smooth and cool smoking, balanced blend that is good for everyone interested in experiencng a refine English style tobacco As a balanced blend I do not get a blast of anyone tobacco but a complimentary flavor.

Smoking this smooth tobacco with some cellar age (8 years) on it vastly improves an already excellent blend. Perception of various tobacco notes and nuances is a very subjective experience for all of us. That said, this reminded me of mushrooms sauteed in butter with hints of sweet carmelized onions and a side of mashed potatoes and beef gravy. A real savory smoke.

Bag note is Latakia some spice and some lite earth notes. My sample was a bit on the dry side. I suspect its a bit on the aged side. The ribbon cut is very small pieces. Packs very easily. This is an Oriental /Turkish forward blend the Latakia and the Virginias are in the background. The Virginias give just a touch of sweetness and The Laticia provides just a bit of smokiness. This blend gets much better after smoking 1/4 of the bowl. I suspect the Virginias need to stove a bit. My guess is this will age nicely. Don't let the first few puffs put you off. Its a bit harsh at the start but smooths out once it gets going. Defiantly has a few rough edges and a slight cigarette taste if puffed hard. If you take your time and really keep track of your smoking cadence this blend will be quite rewarding. Nic hit is medium. Not sure I would consider this an all day smoke but more of a sit on the back porch winter blend. Three stars.

This is as fine as a balanced english mixture can be. Do not know how the butter topping came to the description. A butter topping is what you are looking for? Seriously? And you are disappointed not to taste it? Oh my god. There is of course never been a butter topping. Anyone realised the buttery orientals or at least buttery called orientals as a topping , that ´s the point. The mixture is mostly of virginia and soft orientals and a little latakia and balanced in a way it never get boring. Here in Germany it is of course much to expensive. More than 20 euro against a peterson 965 for 14,50 . But it is as a mixture really fine and I looking at every duty free for it
