Cornell & Diehl Founding Fathers
(2.74)
A delightful aromatic blend of burleys and black cavendish infused with the flavor of pomegranate, an exotic fruit originally from the middle East that was a particular favorite in the 18th Century and found growing on the grounds of Mt. Vernon, Monticello and around the homes of other Founding Fathers.

Vastly different in flavor with Pomegranate used as the topping. At first you might say, WOW! Keep in mind this is an aromatic - and it's not your founding father's actual tobacco. You'll have to burn this extremely slow in order to keep the flavor as noticeable for any length of time. Like many C&D aromatics as of late, for me, this one tends to fall short of being one that I would repurchase. Nice to try it out once, I guess, but it's not a very intriguing blend for me. This might work as a first tobacco for the new pipe smoker as I didn't have any issues with tongue bite and it burned fairly well.

whelp....its certainly an aromatic. I tried, and i guess as aro's go its not bad at all. But mostly the tobacco lacks distinction, and while the idea for this blend is intriguing, i cant imagine Ill buy more.

Another quality aromatic Burley/Cavendish mixture from C&D! The sweet/tart pomegranate flavor is apparent first with a little vanilla added. I don't detect the same strong alcohol aroma that I find in Old Grove. The Cavendish is smooth and burns very cool. The Burley gives a great nutty background note. Not quite a complex blend but the shift between fruit, vanilla, cavendish, and burley keeps it interesting as the bowl progresses. Great flavor, room note, & burn.

This is a mild smoke with a fresh tart/sweet taste that burns cool and dry. Good aromatic and not an overly sweet flavour.

I enjoy aromatics on occasion, and for me this was very enjoyable. The nuttiness of burleys mingle with the fruity tartness of the pomegranate, and the cavendish wraps it all together with some sweetness. It is reminiscent of a pastry. It was a delight to smoke this with a morning coffee, and it gave just the right nic hit to kickstart my day.
The tin note is also heavenly. I could just live in that tin, but sadly the room note didn't capture the full essence of that scent. Nonetheless, it has a very pleasant room note
3/4 there are better aromatics but this one is worth trying, and I will purchase it again for that tin note alone.

I get a fruity flavor I found out that it was pomegranate but I really don’t get pomegranate out if it it was a nice smooth smoke easy to light and a constant burn I think it’s burley and black cavendish it’s a nice easy smoke not terribley impressive but very consistent I have had a good time with what I’ve smoked of my tin I would recommend that it at least be tried especially for beginners all the flavor is up front and there isn’t a whole lot of depth to be missed

Pomegranate? No way I would have ever determined that. Even though I knew what it was, I still don't detect that. Fresh pomegranates have a very bitter aroma to me, this tobacco doesn't offer that up.
The pouch appearance seems 1/3 cavendish and 2/3 burley. Moisture content is fairly high for a C&D aromatic. Still packs well.
Pouch aroma is slight cocoa, dark fruits and nutty. It smells amazing!
Initial lighting takes a few matches. It crackles a bit when the flame is applied due to the moisture. Initial flavors of cocoa and light fruit essence. The burley offers its signature C&D nuttiness, but it is lacking the usual sharp and bitter quality I find it to have. The cavendish is sweet, and balances well with the burley. if sipped, the sweetness, cocoa/fruity flavors stay almost to the bottom of the bowl. If pushed, it can turn a bit acrid and ashy. This blend can also cause some moisture in the heel, so it performs best in a small, quick bowl for me. I think veteran smokers would even like this for an aromatic change of pace. I give it a solid 3 stars.

I've liked or loved every C&D tobacco I've tried up until this one but Founding Fathers falls a bit short of the others. Overall this tobacco burns well and provides a decent smoke. It is mild in every sense of the word, a little nicotine, a little flavor (on the retro), a little sugar, a little nuttieness. It is a nice creamy smoke that fills the mouth. If you like a mild smoke this coud easily be an all day smoke for you, if you are after a bit more from your time with the pipe I'd move on.

Right out of the tin, this blend had a great aroma. I sat for awhile just smelling it. It is a fantastic taste of vanilla, and some fruity notes but not too strong. It’s a great blend of regular tobacco and aromatic tobacco. This is one of my favourites and it stays the perfect moisture in a mason jar. I will be buying this again.

I enjoyed this blend . The pomegranate flavor was not strong to me at all. It was more like smokin a tea blend. I did enjoy it. Smooth and easy to light. Could smoke all day
