Rich, deep, contemplative... Ripe red Virginias, fine Orientals, smokey Cyprus latakia, and a pinch of acadian perique are pressed and matured in cakes before being sliced. The sophisticated flavors and exotic aroma provide a wonderful backdrop for quiet moments of reflection, a good book, and if you are so inclined, perhaps a wee dram.
Notes: This is the second entry in the Old London Series. It is fuller and somewhat more latakia forward than Chelsea Morning, with a higher percentage of Orientals, and less perique. It's rich, complex, leathery and smoky, with a naturally sweet structure from the darker Virginias, and a balanced Oriental spice. It compares in strength and fullness with blends like Samarra and Blackpoint, but the pressing makes it deeper, darker, and brings new dimensions to the flavors and aromas. It's really wonderful. An ideal addition to the series, perfectly complimenting a relaxing evening.

I had heard a lot about this tobacco and was looking forward to trying it. Upon opening the tin I was greeted by a beautiful array of flavors. I found the sweet, smoky, tangy, fruity, woody, earthy, musty, plumy, spicy, very lightly floral lightly sour to be very pleasant.
This comes in a flake and and I rubbed it out before smoking. I let it dry for a half hour before smoking. Upon lighting wonderful thick, silky and creamy smoke that gave off a nice campfire type room note. The flavors were complex, mild and blended together perfectly and each puff brought forth a different flavor that would slightly move ever so slightly forward. Smoky, then sweet, then musty and so on.but the leaders never drowned out the other flavors. The flavors blended beautifully and delicately and each puff was a beautifully complex blend wonderfully mild flavors that do not overpower but together make this a full and deeply flavored smoke. The blend burned slow and to a white ash. Had a bit more relight than normal for this hour and a half smoke which burned dry and cool, leaving no moisture in the bowl.
The taste of this tobacco as mentioned above was a complex, delicate and beautiful blend that never overpowered and played well together with each puff having one flavor ever so slightly taking the lead. The flavors consisted of all mild flavors such as a sweet, smoky, musty, earthy, tangy, light brown sugar, breads, fruity, sour, earthy very lightly salted, spicy, bbq, plumy and fruity taste. One one relight I did pull too hard and a slight creosote flavor appeared. The flavors are beautifully arranged and this tobacco does not bite.
This is a excellent tobacco. It leaves one fulfilled with a full flavor that never overpowers. I enjoyed this hour and a half adventure in my MM Country Gentleman. Out of 4 Stars I would give this a 4,5 if I could. This is moving into the second spot in my rotation as a true favorite.

Right out of the thin smells sweet acid and greasy.
It came with some humidity, it is recommended to let the tobacco rest for a while before smoking, an even then it needs several relights.
When smoked the creamy and greasy flavours are very present, with a subtle sweetness. A very interesting and complex blend, it has the GLP´s signature.
I marinated with ‘cocada’ an Ecuadorian sweet made of coconut. It brought all the aroma out front.
It has a very pleasant and long lasting after taste.

Quiet Nights has a lot to offer to me. Opening the tin brings the Latakia to the senses as I stare down at the broken flake offerings. This is a hard one to light straight from the tin and will take a few relights to get to the bottom. The campfire latakia is smokey, creamy and surrounded by a juicy sweetness of quality pressed leaves, that just blends in so perfectly. The orientals and I assume that pinch of perique have a nice dry spice coming forward as well, again tamed by the sweetness. The nicotine is mild but there. everything offered is blended well and compliments the other. Did I mention the sweetness? Could easily be smoked day or night. One of the most flavorful latakia blends I have tasted and worth keeping around. This English surely does live up to the name Old London Series and peaceful quiet nights. A tossup between this and Gaslight for the Pease addiction Crown. Watson, the needle!

Having gravitated away from Latakia mixtures in the past few years in favor of Virginias and VAPERs I was a bit hesitant to try this one but it surprised me in a very positive sort of way. In contrast to the Lat bomb which I expected I found it to be a very nicely balanced blend which allowed the Virginias to shine through and the latakias to be present but not cloying. Being a flake I did dry my portion out for about 30 minutes which helped it burn nicely in the Comoy. I found it very pleasant without aging. My experience with aging latakia mixtures is that cellaring for more than about 5 years causes the latakia to fade rather drastically leaving a character to the mixture which was never intended by the blender. In other words, unless I hear from him otherwise I figure Greg Pease has blended this to be enjoyed immediately upon purchase, Dunhill London Mixture was a ready rubbed Oriental forward mixture which I used to love but unfortunately it has not been revived by Peterson. This one comes pretty close to that revered and retired blend. 4+ stars.

This is one of my top favorites! It is unctuous, smoky, filling, almost like smoking beef jerky. It’s strong, but in a fulfilling sort of way and the room note can be overwhelming, it’s one of the few my family doesn’t really enjoy. My only complaint is that it is very “dusty”, there is always an inch of nigh unsmokable dust at the bottom of the can, which, given the price, makes this even more cost-prohibitive for me.
I have recently tried this with a few years on it and I dare say, I prefer it fresh. It loses its punch, and for me, the flavor I crave so much.

I agree with all the 4 star reviews. This is one enjoyable blend. Forget Penzance and buy this instead. To me, it's better, and best of all, readily available.

Awwww Quiet Nights, what a truly amazing blend. One of the few blends where if this would be the only thing I smoked for the rest of my days, I'd be contempt with that. The tin note is sublime and tempts me to take a bite. It's very bold and sophisticated, really feels that what your puffing on has a real weight and presence. Perfect right out of the tin, burns cool, won't bite and won't leave too much to clean up. Wouldn't call it an all day smoke, but I have smoked several bowls consecutively. I've read that it stands to the all mighty Penzance, but I wouldn't know for I've never tried it, though I do know that Quiet Nights will make a fine addition to my cellar.

A very wet presentation of dark flakes packs a pleasantand balanced smoke. “Sweet Latakia” may be the simplest description, but that would omit the honorable mention of peppery notes.
Leaves a fine white ash and burns cool, which is surprising given the wet dottle left behind. Needs relight consistent with the presentation.

First time i light it i remember of Pirate Kake, one of my favorite blend. But after several puff i found this blend lacking of bitter and sourness where a balkan blend should have. For me this is not suitable my pallet.

Quiet Nights presented in a coarse flake, begins with velvety rich and smokey Cyprian Latakia, it’s piney aroma along with the Red Virginia’s deep fruity essence form the base of this contemplative blend. The resinous, sour and fragrant Orientals which are present throughout, dance on the palate and are supported by Perique’s unwavering peppery presence in the background. A very full bodied smoke with medium strength that indeed burns cool and pleasantly to a gray ash requiring few relights. A tolerable room note and a slightly sweet finish. An acomplished blend by Pease worthy of the cellar.
