This blend carries more strength than many aromatics and has a twinge of natural tobacco taste. The maple flavoring is dominant though, and it is delish!

For smokers who prefer uncased blends this one might be a good change of pace. For those who prefer aromatics, this one might be your manna from heaven.

Burns fairly dry and I certainly had no problem keeping the leaf lit. Easy on the tongue in the heat department, too.

I love Maple blends and whenever I see a tin regardless of manufacturer I jump right on it. Black and Gold is a nice diversion from Autumn Evening and Rum & Maple in that I really enjoyed the balance of Cavendish's. Unlike most Maple blends that I have tried, B&G contains, well, black and gold Cavendish. Just like in 1Q and Captain Black Royal which both contain Black and Gold Cavendish, this Maple blend has more flavor than if C&D employed just black Cavendish or just brown, I really liked this mix. The Maple topping that C&D uses is really top shelf, I even enjoy it more than Pipeworks and WIlke's Vermont Maple which is saying a lot, very natural and aromatic. If you want to beef this blend up a bit add some McClelland blending Perique, I got the idea from 4Noggin's "Essence of Vermont" blend and it's very unique, Perique and Maple just seem to be made for each other.

Now,this is MAPLE! Far better than McClelland's Blue Townsman and superior to C&D's own AUTUMN EVENING. This has no bite(unlike Autumn evening)and not artificial tasting (like Townsman Blue). A true joy for you and those around you. My friends were falling asleep as I puffed away on this. The most scrumptuous maple aromatic on the market. 3 of 4 stars!!!

The tin note is very "maplely" kinda like those maple flavored sausages by Framer John's. Lights well and burns nicely. The overall flavor is similar to Autumn Evening (but not as strong) also by C&D. The flavor mellows out somewhat after the 1st 1/3 of the bowl. The alcohol topping is like Scotty's Milk and Honey. Recommended.

I was honestly expecting a heavily cased, bitey product and it's not any of that.

I found this blend to have a nice maple flavor that doesn't overwhelm. You can still taste the tobacco. It's very smooth and provides a large volume of smoke. Luckily, it's available in bulk.

If I had a complaint, it would be that it's a tad most when the tin is opened.

Black and Gold Maple, arrives with just the right amount of moisture. The room note is very pleasant. The maple flavor is very nice and not over done. The nicotine starts to kick in about half way down the bowl in a medium size pipe. It will never replace my Autumn Evening blend but a very nice tobacco.

At first I didn't like it...but it grew on me...and if you like the fragrence of hot buttery pancakes...you might like it too! For a change of pace...it's a pleasant change...but the taste is rather one dimenional. Pancakes with just a dash of buttery maple - is the flavor...but it's still 'natural'. Sometimes I'll mix it with a bowl of latakia blend just to make it more interesting... It's not an overpowering aromatic but the aroma is there from the first to the last puff!

Decent Maple and Nutty strength. Good after taste of nuts. The cavendish makes it a nice bed to place the flavors. Overall, a solid smoke for sure.

I was looking for an aromatic full of maple flavors but I found something a little more complex than that. The mixture has different aromas like maple, liquor, honey, sugar, and some soft coffee. But honestly, some of them just disappear in the smoke. The sugar is also quite intense, not overwhelming but it is always present, and I was looking for something like that but with maple. Anyway, it smokes well, a little hot but manageable. I will continue tasting this for sure, but not as everyday tobacco.

Smoking now: first impression.

Tin is a mixture black and tan pieces that is fairly moist like most aromatics you probably know. I let mine sit on a plate on top the toaster for a few seconds to dry out as I do with most aromatics of the sort. My review reflects that and drying tobacco out (not to a crisp though) will benefit you if you don’t already do it. The tin aroma is stoved Virginia and maple syrup. It’s very appealing.

The taste. This is like one of those dessert parfaits in a cup that has sweet whipped cream on top, vanilla pudding below that, then the not so sweet but still delicious sugar cookie on the bottom.

The maple is the dominant flavor and is quite nice. I like an aromatic that tastes how it smells and this one does the trick. I do get some nice sweet Virginias in here too and I suspect the sweet cavendish adds to it and helps mellows it all out. The first half of the bowl is a wonderful maple forward smoke. In the second half the maple flavor drops off completely and there’s a decent sweet Virginia and sugary cavendish flavor with a delightful retrohale. I did not get any tongue bite, chemical or harsh taste, nor any gurgling. Burned very well for an aromatic. Left a tad bit of moisture and dottle in the bowl.

Now for the obligatory “I don’t usually smoke aromatics but” part. Truth be told I do smoke aromatics but good ones are hard to come by. This one is good. I do recommend you dry it out a bit though. It’s an aromatic that tastes how it smells and gives you a subtle sweet tobacco taste. Well done.
