When I decide it time for a bowl of a maple blend maple street is where I go. I tried black gold and would consider it to be a solid second place finish. Black gold is not as smooth, the maple is only present in smell not taste. Burns hotter so go easy and for me it lacked complexity I expect from C&D. This is far from a bad blend, just not for me.

After Autumn Evening and Maple Cavendish came Back Gold Maple. What a letdown it has been, I am glad that I had purchased only four ounces. This certainly does not use the same maple topping that is used by Autumn Evening. I found this blend to have an artificial chemical taste to it.
If Autumn Evening is Vermont maple in flavor this is more akin to generic pancake syrup from the dollar tree. Clearly, there are differences in palates as this one has a higher rating than Autumn Evening, however, I believe that to be due to the popularity of Autumn Evening so people that are smokers of non-aromatics jump aboard and give it a try and are disappointed.
Unlike the other C&D aromatics I have tried this one seems to start out a bit too moist and burn a little warmer. It burns to the bottom with some minor amounts of moisture left in the heel.
I will stick to Autumn Evening or Even C&D Maple Cav for my maple flavored aromatics. This one is a no go for me.
