Indeed a typical curly (flake) cut. The smell upon opening is like rich, sweet, honeyish. The moisture level is just right. The flakes breake up very easily if you choose to rub it out. I normaly just stuff one flake in a smaller bulb (Peterson 999) and enjoy a nice sweet smoke. I strongly recommend smoking this tobacco in a pipe with a filter, as the flavors are more pronounced. Overall flavour is mild to medium, but I feel that it is a good relaxing smoke, and if you stick with it becomes more complex and rewarding. The room note is exceptional, rich and pleasant. Overall the tobacco is my reference for a DANISH tobacco style and one I would keep always on hand.

Smooth Virginia taste, the caramel taste is there in the background. Mild mannered and inoffensive, but for me it is a little bland. Good as an all day smoke though.

Caramel is the first thought that comes to mind on lighting this, what a shame I don't like caramel, otherwise I could rate this much higher.

Quality of leaf is very good along with moisture content, the square flake rubs out nicely and I allow the tobacco a little drying time in order to be rid of the caramel topping. After half an hour or so it's ready for lighting and the caramel goes to the rear allowing a very fine quality leaf come to the fore.

Straight from the tin or part dried, this is a creamy smoke, not always pleasant (IMHO), but creamy all the same. Fully dried out, this is still creamy and still without bite, unfortunately for me, the caramel is still lurking in the background and every now and then seems to pop up as if to say "Am I the taste you don't like then ?" and of course, when fully dried, has a propensity to burn at speed.

I will not buy this again simply because I do not like the taste, but I could see many others loving it, therefore three stars.

I smoked this back in 2004, and have just found my notes as well as a tin that I squirrelled away to mature. I remember being very impressed with the unusual presentation, curly flakes but not rolls. As if they'd screwed the baccy up in bunches which they'd loaded haphazardly into the press. Looked cool!

There was a sweet Virginia aroma with perhaps the faintest hint of vanilla. The tobacco was very mild indeed, and I found it a little dull but nice on a hot day. It was easy burning and people seemed to like the smell. That used to matter to me...

When I crack the ancient tin I'll update this.

Not a real review, because when I opened my tin, I found that the seal had been compromised, and the tobacco was, alas, bone dry. Rather than trying to rehydrate it, I instead mixed it 50/50 with some C&D Pirate Kake, doused that mixture in Frangelico and Malibu Coconut, and let this meld, creating a Latakia aromatic, something I have experimented with before.

Now, obviously this means that I have not had this tobacco on its own, and can't really evaluate it on its own merits, but it did, even given its initially dried-out state, make an excellent Virginia base for my blending efforts, so at least from this I can conclude that it is a good tobacco.

Maybe I'll get the opportunity to try it from an uncompromised tin someday, but also I'm glad that I was able to find a use for my "spoiled" tin. The Latakia aromatic is quite good, and I have enjoyed several bowls.

I thought I had reviewed this one before. This is a very nice, easy smoking Virginia. Subdued, with not an extreme propensity to bite (obviouslly, if smoked slowly), very delicate and civil.

For a beginner, or someone who wishes a milder change of pace, this one is a good choice.

The blend discription above is kinda misleading because this blend is an aromatic flake.once the tin cracks a wonderfull caramel coconut smell comes out.a deeper smell and some vanilla notes also come out.the flakes are curly/waves with perfect cut and moisture.they can be broked or rubbed easy.i prefer rubbing them for a better lighting and fewer relights.while smoking the flavours are very nice and natural.the caramel/coconut topping feels very natural and sweet.virginias are tonned down by the topping but they provide grasses, citruses and some bread notes.i also noticed some black cavendish wich are obvious in the flake and the taste' giving some vanilla notes.generally the flavours are tasty and natural from the beginning till the end.burns slow and medium hot to perfect ash with a lot moisture left at the filter and the end of the bowl.nicotine level is medium and the aftertaste very pleasant.room note is great with some chance of tongue bite if pushed a bit.it can ghost a pipe very easy.an all day smoke.generally if you prefer unflavoured flakes don't bother buying it.if though you like aromatic blends it's worthy!

Sweet mild creamy Virginia, nothing to shout about but nothing to moan about. Has a super fruit cake rich figgy pudding aroma in the tin to greet you. about as exciting as troost to smoke.

I feel this is best smoked a flake at a time and puffed slowly but frequently. Ideal for smokers new to the pipe or in my case returning after a short break. Great quality vg in a Danish style that can be easily smoked without distraction from other tasks.
