Boswell Pipes & Tobacco Cherry Smash
(2.91)
Blend of Cavendish Tobacco flavored with a rich cherry mixture... Full aromatic, medium to full bodied yet gentle. One of J.M.'s first masterful blends 30 years ago. While smoking the cherry aroma gives way to an agreeable, light tobacco flavor. Burns easily to the end.

The sweet, deep cherry flavor mostly dominates the Virginia cavendish, so you'll find very little of that taste here outside of a blade or two of grass and a drop of honey. The cherry has some creaminess, though it has a slight syrupiness in the second half at times that I found a little distracting. I do get occasional minor vanilla notes from the black cavendish, which I found rather pleasant. May need a little dry time. Burns cool at a slow to moderate pace with no bite or harsh moments, along with a consistent flavor to the finish. Will leave moisture in the bowl and needs relights. The room note is wonderful. Not quite an all day smoke.

I have found that being a non-aromatic smoker the time does come when a good aro is nedded and can be enjoyed. This has a lot to do with the wife not liking the smell of heavy english blends or even some times just craving a change of pace. Boswells Cherry Smash is a good aromatic. It does have some nictonine which is important to me and does not bite. There is a strong cherry flavor at the beginning of the bowl which mellows and some good black cavendish flavors come through towards the second half. I could never smoke this stuff all day but a couple of times a week does work. I would imagine that those who like aromatics would like this blend asit is one of the few that I actually can enjoy.

Not a real cherry cavendish fan but love the room note of most cherry tobacco. A friend from the pipe community recommended this blend for people like me who want the aroma but not the sickeningly sweet overpowering flavor of the casings used in most berry blends. Cherry Smash is a nice smooth burning and smoking tobacco. Cherry Smash has the cherry roma I love and a rich tobacco flavor with a sweet and nutty finish. A pleasant smoke for a sitter and is sure to please the people around you. I would buy this blend again.

I had a forum friend send me many samples of Boswell and Drew Estate aros to try out as I had tried neither of these companies' offerings. Overall, I would give the nod to the Drew Estate aros overall as I felt they were done better and I felt a little disappointment in the Boswell aros as I guess I had high expectations from the many reviews that I had read. Perhaps it was due to the comparison with what I felt to be a superior offering.
Of the Boswell blends that I had tried, I was surprised to find that it was this blend that was my favorite of the lot. Surprised because I typically don't like the cherry aros, at least what I would consider what should be representative of a cherry aro. For instance, I love GH top black cherry, but it is so different than just a cherry flavor with GH's unique Lakeland sauce taste that the result of cherry added to that just tastes much different that someone looking for cherry may not like it.
This is a cherry aromatic and it is the best offering of such that I have tried. I smoked this up in a day or two. Many smokes were out of my Country Gentleman while putzing around the garage. It made my workplace and my mustache smell great. A real enjoyable smoke that kept its topping flavor throughout that entire smoke.
I would put this at a notch over three stars, not quite four. Good stuff.

After a couple weeks of having it around it seems the cherry flavor has grown richer, and fuller but still subtle and refined and not overwhelming...and now the cherry seems to stick around the whole bowl. It's also not a strong or sour cherry, it's soft and only slightly tart. I like this one because it's not just straight cherry, it seems to be more than that...maybe a cherry with a vannilla finish. And that is why I keep it around. I may not smoke it much but when I'm in the mood for some cherry...it's really tasty. Sometimes I forget that I do like cherry blends, but I have to be in the mood and this is one of the best I've smoked. It burns well, and smokes great...no bite and smokes dry. It has a good balance and the tobacco flavors are not overpowered. The only other thing I can say is I felt this blend has a bit of a nicotine kick to it and stronger tobacco flavor. I noticed the same with Boswell's Apple Struddle, which is also great. Not a bad thing, just more than I'm used to. Good stuff for a change of pace, it's a once in a great while smoke for me. I'm not big on cherry, but this is good for those times and a way better cherry blend than the others out there.

A nice cherry aromatic that does not hit you in the face with artificial cherry flavor or that chemical taste. It is on the sweetside, and pleasing. Smoke slowly and no bite. Easy smoke and comes out of the tin with no wetness or goopy feel. It is a nice aromatic for those days when you are in the mood to have a dessert in your pipe.

let me preface by saying I'm not a fan of cherry aromatic blends, but man do they smell good! This is a simple, traditional cherry cavendish. It doesn't bite, but it will make a threat if smoked too aggressively, and/or doesn't have enough drying time. Keep it cool, and Bob's your uncle. It's a must try for cherry fans.

Simply not a big fan of cherry blends. They end up tasting like cough drops to me. I will say this blend does not fall in that catagory. It is very mild with only a hint of cherry throughout the smoke. It burns fairly cool and not real bad bite as you would expect from a cherry blend. Room note has a slight aroma of cherries and is pleasant. Just a decent all around good smoke.
