Boswell Pipes & Tobacco Paradise
(2.70)
Rich, full-bodied black cavendish with hints of vanilla on the finish. All blended up for a nice mild and flavored smoke. Once lit the vanilla aroma is out of this world, complementing the dark cavendish in a gentle way.

I tried Bozzie's Paradise back in 2012 when I participated in an Internet pipe group's tobacco swap. I'll never do another "box pass" as Paradise was the best leaf in the box, and unfortunately, that kind of killed the deal for me. A nice base of Black Cavendish with Vanilla flavoring. Where have I tasted this before? Everywhere? Yep. Pretty standard fare. Burns rather warm but I did like the vanilla coating.

This blend reminds me of a rougher version of BCA which I like. It looks the same, a very dark black cavendish in a large ribbon cut with a Vanilla backdrop and tasty very much like a toasted cavendish. Between the two, I like BCA better, it's smoother, dryer and less hot. But this is still a decent blend. it comes at a good moisture and packs and light easy in the pipe. It did require several relights for me as I smoked it, as it burns very slow. The flavor does get stronger as you smoke the bowl down, and burns to a dark frey and black ash. It is not goopy, but it does leave the pipe smelling like it for awhile. I think this would be a good mixer with a PA like tobacco. Not Bozewells best product so I would say if you like this type, smoke BCA.

This smoke is just ok for me. My first impression was not very good. It seems to be a very light smoke with a sweet vanilla flavoring, without any tobacco taste. I did not touch the bag for a few months and came back to it. It was better the next time, but still nothing that I loved. If your in the mood for a sweet smoke that doesn't taste like tobacco this may be something you'll enjoy.

I've always been pleased with the Boswell's fantastic aromatic blends, but this one was like sipping some sort of vanilla-flavored syrupy liquid through a straw. While the flavor and room note are in the very least pleasant, it is overwhelmingly sweet. I probably won't smoke this again. However, if crazy sweet tobaccos that have no tobacco taste are your cup o' tea, have at it.
Also, as some other reviewers have mentioned, I had quite a time trying to keep it lit. Don't know if letting it dry out would help, but based on my experience with this blend, I probably wouldn't take the time to do so.

I have three Boswell pipes and have yet to be disappointed by any of them. However, for whatever reason I cannot get their blends to burn cool. Paradise must be the standard Lane BCA or close to equivalent, but from the fine folks at Boswells it turns into a blowtorch for me. I've tried a lot of their blends, but I cannot get them to work. And that's kind of a disappointment, since their Pennsylvania Dutch Treat smells so darn tasty!
