I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying Sunday Picnic. It is a quality flake made from fine tobaccos. There was nothing actually bad about this unique blend. And it is unique, there not being another searched blend that shares the characteristics of perique, turkish and virginia but no latakia. It smoked almost identically from a cob, briars and a meer.
Here's what I thought was good about it: it demonstrates why every other blend of izmir and virginia has latakia. While it's interesting and flavorful at the top it lacks depth and dimension at the bottom to harmonize the stuff. It felt... stretched. It is like wearing a silk suit, silk tie and fine leather shoes without shirt and socks. According to the many 4-star ratings I am one of the few not hoping for more versions of this novel combination.

Beautiful flake when opening the can. Moist but crumbles nicely. The Izmir gives it a nice blend when added to the VA and perique. I like it for a Va-based tobacco. I still like more of a latakia punch but this blend is a nice change of pace. Will smoke this alongside Solani Yellow (and a new one I got but haven't tried yet...MacBaren's Navy Flake) to see which flake comes out ahead. For now, a nice smooth smoke that burns nicely.
Second review: Tried this blend on an almost empty stomach and found it to have a real nicotine punch. I liked it but still prefer some latakia. Recommend a small pipe that can give the flakes a nice burn without giving too much smoke at once.
