Cornell & Diehl Cube Cut Burley

(3.00)
C&D combines high grade white and dark Burleys from Kentucky, then make their own small-cut cubes. A light pack will reward you with a delightfully cool, and long lasting smoke. Regarded as a blending tobacco.
Notes: This was an Amar Blends Co. mixture. Cornell and Diehl bought the rights of all their old recipes.

This is a one dimensional smoke by itself, but mixed wit Cornell and Diehl straight Virginia flake it’s a recommend. The blending of this cube with equal parts Va. is kinda like I remember the old Half and Half only this will be better as there’s no Anisette flavoring and Cornell & Diehl are known for quality tobaccos. I have several tobaccos that I use as mixers or condiments so if you’re feeling adventurous, give this one a try.

C&D Cube Cut Burley has a bag note that is earthy and nutty and very mild. The smoke has notes of oats and is earthy, nutty, with a little molasses and cocoa peaking in here and there. At about the half way point, a little bitterness comes in from the white burley and I begin to pick up on some toasty and woodsy notes that stay with me until the end. The overall strength is at the bottom end of med. but the nic hit is solidly med. The smoke has a bit of a rough edge to it, which I like, but it will not bite. Took a few more relights than normal and smoked fairly dry. The finish is short lived and the room note was not mentioned by the wife. As a straight smoke it is simple and fine in any bowl as a mixer it is better and I found I used it a lot with aromatics to give them a little depth. A solid 3 stars.
