Boswell's Best is like 1Q on steriods.
I keep smoking more and more of this and can't get over what a cool/dry smoke this is compared to other cavendish type blends. The true tobacco flavor shines through... not just the "goop" flavor of sugar casing, which is a real plus for me.
I have a big jar of this and would smoke it all day if I could. Only drawback is that is very mild and does not have much nicotine. That is good sometimes.
Highly Recommended.

OK?..I SEE THIS BLEND REVIEW HAS HAD SOME HOT-HEADS VOICING THEIR OPINIONS OTHER THAN WHAT THIS SITE IS INTENDED FOR. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO PEOPLES OPINIONS, WE ARE REVIEWING THE BLEND, NOT THE FOLKS THAT MAKE IT OR HOW IT IS COMPARED TO OTHER BLENDS.
So?to review this BLEND (not the people that make it! That?s what we?re here for right?!) 🙂
I ordered this blend based on the name so had to give it a try. The pouch aroma is very light with a very slight nutty scent. Upon lighting this up, I didn?t notice anything special that would make this Boswell?s ?best?. To me, it is a very basic flavor with not much going on with it. I guess it would be a good all-day smoke. For me, I like a bit more character in my smoke. Felt like smoking air. I didn't notice much of a difference if any with "Dan's Blend". If your looking for flavor, this one lacks it! Very boring.

My notes. Delicious. A top shelf version of what we all know as a 1q-like blend. Except ITS NOT 1Q. This is a unique blend of Cavendish and other leaf with Boswells own mastery of topping and casing work. Light, mild, and all day pleasure.
I have been to Boswells 4-5x a year for the past 5 or more years.
I went one week in 2019 to visit. I bought a pipe and needed some of the 'best but the big bin was empty! Followed Mr. BOSWELL himself to the back and watched him make a batch right there in front of me. Each leaf was sorted, mixed, toppings added, and then mixed again. It is not 1q at all.

A pleasant, manly smoke.
To me this blend has a pouch fragrance of rich cavendished and sweet dark Virgina laced with vanilla and something akin to maple-caramel touched with dark chocolate. Beautiful clouds of creamy smoke throughout, cool-burning, with flavors of vanilla, maple, caramel, marshmallow and chocolate appearing and reappearing above the sweet taste of cavendish and Virginia from start to finish, an unusually consistent thing for an aromatic. I sensed a trace of simple burley goodness in the mix. It's like smoking a vanilla pancake with maple syrup, if possible, so much so that it's a shade sweet to me. The room note is a delight, but outdoors it has a commanding, majestic note: rich, elegant, a touch sophisticated, but unpretentious and clean; masculine and thoughtful. The phrase "restrained luxury" comes readily to mind. Just the faintest touch of moisture was left in the heel of my dedicated cob when finished. No ghosting. Boswell's Best does get better with a few months' age and the usual Mason jar TLC-treatment. As has been said so many times already by others, a top shelf, go-to, all day aromatic. Thank you for your time.

I'm a fan of Boswell's tobaccos, but this isn't one my faves. It's a very light, easy going blend, but for me it's not,for lack of a better word, tasty enough. I personally prefer a more flavored smoke. The aroma is OK as well, but nothing special.

As others have stated, this is in the same genre as 1Q and Captain Black. However, I didn’t get the headache that I sometimes get from the CB line of tobaccos. I don’t believe that Boswell’s Best is 1Q, BB has more chocolate and less vanilla to my palate. Overall I enjoyed this blend and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys vanilla/cavendish style blends.

The first pipe tobacco I smoked - 10 years ago.
This isn’t my favorite tobacco, but you you never forget your first love. When I quit smoking cigarettes, I would still enjoy the occasional cigar when fishing or barbequeing on the patio. I was lucky enough to live a short drive from Boswell’s wonderful shop, and I would frequently browse their well stocked humidor. After a few months of patronage, I could no longer ignore the wonderful smell coming from their tobacco counter. After striking up a conversation with the friendly proprietor J.M. (shared while petting the equally friendly husky that seemed to be a staple of the shop at the time), I walked out of the store with my first pipe (a Boswell) and a free sample of Boswell’s best. The tobacco is a smooth aromatic vanilla cavendish, with a citrusy Virginia backdrop. This is a perfect beginner blend, and one I still occasionally enjoy (in the same ‘ol pipe) after a decade of pipe smoking.
Sadly, I moved away from the Chambersburg area soon after picking up the pipe, but I do my best to stop by the shop when visiting family. The Boswell’s are good people offering great products.

This is a quite decent "vanilla" smoke but tends to leave a lingering aftertaste of which I'm not particularly fond. Nonetheless, to others this might not be the case. Boswell's (hands down) certainly produces several very fine Aromatic & Natural blends. Albeit this one is not my particular cup of tea (yet several other Boswell blends certainly are) I'd still recommend that it's worth a try. This is mild enough to be an all day smoke for sure. I hope to be fortunate enough to visit Bowell's brick & mortar someday in the near future. These B&M's are becoming rare given today's economic situation where many folks predominately shop only on-line. In my opinion these stores are a memento to an era less-hurried and more often than not "easier times" ... which I fondly remember while smoking a pipe.

A very nice aromatic that is similar to 1Q . The comments and personal attacks that Mr. Morley made about the Boswell family are way out of line. As I said, this blend is similar to 1Q but the difference is 1q has a tiny bit of fire cured where BB has none. The tobaccos in Boswell's Best all show up in the smooth flavor. Sip it slow and the Virginias go magical. When I want to enjoy an aromatic I reach for this one. I like to mix Lane BS-005 with this for a real special treat.
