This is a pretty good blend. The burn characteristics are great. No dottle, no moisture, no bite, and minimal relights. This is by far the tobacco with the strongest scent I've ever experienced. It's not a bad smell, but in the words of a famous, mustachioed Dodge spokesman, "It stings the nostrils." I tasted no Perique, which I don't mind, but lots of Latakia and small amounts of Virginia. The taste is not great, but not foul, either. Maybe a bit ashy towards the end. The room note is not nearly as strong as the tobacco scent. I wouldn't recommend smoking this in the morning until you've had breakfast as the nicotine content is noticeable. But this is great to smoke at midday or in the early evening. This is quality stuff and I have no complaints about the tin I smoked, but I'm a bit disconcerted about the other reviews mentioning how it was flat in some places or it had too much Perique and not enough else. My experiences run contrary to those. It makes me think there might be some lack of consistency in the blending, curing, and/or packaging process. It means you have to be lucky to get a good tin. 🙁
EDIT on 12/9/13: I have to knock this one star down because it smokes a bit hot and gives some tongue bite when smoked a bit quickly. I had previously smoked it quite slowly, trying to really grasp the flavor. It started acting up when I tried to smoke it normally while doing other things. Conversly, smoking it in a meershaum brings out its best flavor.
EDIT on 1-6-14: More tongue bite and bad aftertaste. I just can't recommend this when the competition is much better.

I am somewhat surprised with the relatively positive reviews on this site. First of all, I generally enjoy most blends from C&D and think they are one of the very best tobacco blenders in the business. Adagio for me is the perfect example of a concoction of different tobacco leaves with no discernible character, other than a strong burley type blend with an overwhelmingly pungent spiciness from the Latakia & Perique. As a throw-away smoke, I consumed an entire tin of this stuff, trying my best to enjoy Adagio, but just can't seem to get the same smoking experience as the other reviewers on this site. Maybe it's "different strokes for different folks".. I don't know, but I surely won't buy this again. Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention that my tin was over three years old, obviously the aging didn't do me any favours.
