This one is just not for me. It burns down way too quickly. It has a propensity to bite the tongue. The taste is bordering on overpowering for me. I couldn't even finish off the 40g pouch before giving this the heave ho. Thankfully I didn't purchase the large, economy sized version. The only plus for me is that you might get some compliments on the room note. But why suffer the many negatives for one slight positive? Unless you are totally into tongue biting aromatics, then this blend is not worth recommending.

This blend seems to be frowned upon by most smokers.
Coming from a background of being a cigar smoker who moved to pipes, i generally prefer a sweet Va or a robust english mixture, Dunhill early morning being my go-to blend.
Saying that, Cube seems to fill a certain spot for me - When i feel like something sweeter and flavoured. Yes, it may not be the most complex blend. Yes, it is ridiculously flavored. Yes, it isnt going to satisfy most people who want to ponder the mysteries of the universe while dissecting the different flavors coming from the mix. But it tastes great when you want what cigar guys call a 'dessert stick'... nice sweet tobacco which tastes to me like toasted marshmallows.
Sometimes there is nothing like it, and im not a flavored guy..

Mac Baren's Cube was recommended to me by my tobacconist, and I found it to be a very interesting blend. It would be truthful to say it is not my favourite blend but it is definetely in the top 5. I found if the pipe was packed right I had no trouble smoking it right to the end of the bowl. The taste is consistent and I was pleasantely surprised to find that the room aroma is outstanding. I normally smoke Falcon pipes, but have just purchased a new briar pipe to use soley with this excellent mixture, Well Done Mr Halberg.

Nope Nope Nope.
I don't even want to review this, but will.
I love some cube cuts, but this doesn't do it well at all. The taste was almost good until it burnt your tongue to a crisp.
For a natural Burely it still had a bad chemical taste. Just bad.

okay... The fact Mac Baren calls this blend a connoisseurs choice is insane! Its an overly cased, hot burning, tongue biting poorly done, attempt at a cube cut blend. I love a good cube cut burley but Mac Baren managed to mess that up. Overly cased with a foul bitter sting. Not worth smoking. Better suited for kindling.

I Am new to pipe smoking however, i must add that i am a complementary therapist and i regularly use essential oils. scent is important to me and i am somewhat sensitive to odours and scents.
This tabac was show to me by my local tabac shop in Newquay cornwall, and i must say i was delighted by the fruity undertones of berries and the back note of vanilla. I am limited as to comparisons as this is my first pipe tabac but i enjoyed the experience and would order this again.

Firstly I just wish to state that I don't smoke many aromatics, I always have an aromatic tobacco in my rotation though for when I get a sweet tooth.
When I smoke an aromatic it's usually a Peterson, but I though I'd try this for a change, as my tobacconist recommended this. I found this quite moist out of the pouch, and it needed some air drying. The first bowl full was not very nice, it gargled far too much, gave me terrible tongue burn, burnt very hot and generally was very over powering.
The second and subsequent bowls have improved though, I smoke it through an old Falcon that I've owned since 1975. Also I now smoke it a lot slower, and sip. If you take your time with this tobacco then it is tolerable and even pleasant at times, but you need to really take your time, almost so the tobacco is going out. Although the taste is quite artificial.
I wouldn't buy this again, but I certainly wouldn't throw it, or pass it on. In future I'm going to stick to my Peterson aromatics.

At last an aromatic I can taste. First sniff smells fruity with vanilla there also, overall aroma fairly strong but not unpleasant.
First puff reminded me of fruit salad or Vimto chews (fruit flavoured chews for those who don't know) then getting down the bowl the flavours are changing slightly but, for me at least, never getting overpowering or sickly sweet.
This is the first aromatic that I have had that has kept both taste and flavour for longer than just the char. I don't know if this has anything to do with me having smoked cigarettes for about 38 years, I've only been smoking the pipe for about 1 year
I have tried a few other aromatics after having read positive reviews and been disappointed that I haven't discerned any of the tastes or flavours that the reviewers were getting so HOORAY for Mac Baren ( no I don't work for them ). Like other's if I had read the reviews first I probably wouldn't have bought it. If you are like me and have a problem detecting flavours and taste in aromatics give the Cube a try, like me you might be pleasantly surprised.

Now I give it only 1 star (what was I thinking) too sickly sweet, aroma sticks to everything, including pipes and glass storage jar. Horrible avoid

Luckily I purchased this before reading too many reviews, or I might've been discouraged. I'm not terribly experienced with any tobacco, but this is one of the better aromatics I've had. Honestly, I bought this more for the cool box than anything, but the tobacco turned out alright.
Smokes well enough for me; easy to pack, stays lit fairly well, and I've had little tongue bite if any. It's a bit fruity, pleasant room note, etc. Not the best thing I've ever had, but definitely better than a two-star rating. If you don't like aromatics, just enjoy the box or stay away from this completely.
Note, I usually smoke this in my Brigham with the rock maple insert. Perhaps that smooths it out a bit.
