After enjoying and finishing a bag of Mccranies Colonial I dropped some PS41 in an order over at SP. The descriptions are very similar so I suspect it might be the same. The bag note on PS41 reminded me of sour chocolate. Think orange flavored chocolate. Makes sense since this is red Virginia and burley. Gravity packed and lights just fine. I enjoy the cube cut.

The Virginia and Burley are neck and neck. Bready sour citrus flavors along with a cocoa nutty woody flavor. Not detecting any added aromatic flavors nor is it overly sweet. Has a natural sweetness without going into the semi aromatic territory. She burns just fine if you keep the cadence up. I’m a fan of cube cut, I think it’s easy to pack and worth the extra lights. The Virginia tang on be retrohale is nice.

It’s a nice mellow but flavorful burley Virginia. No BS here, just nice tobacco. Nicotine seems mild side of medium. Smoked before breakfast and was fine. Would keep this product around.

Ps41 is the cube cut that got me started on cube cuts. I live in Tennessee. Not far from where burley is grown and roughly an hour away from where dark fired Kentucky is made. Tennessee burley is great quality, but PS made it even better. The bag note is sweet chocolate. The topping amps up the sweetness of the red Virginia's and the chocolately, nuttiness of the burleys. The burley are still hearty, with nuts, spice, and creamy sweet notes. The reds help add to the sweetness and creaminess that I love. I have been thoroughly enjoying ps41. It works well as a blender also. I highly recommend

Of all the money I’ve spent on this hobby, the best dollars I spend are on this blend. I love red Virginias and nutty cocoa stout non cigarette smelling burley. I have hundreds of tins and if I had only knew how great this was I would never have bought most of them hunting a taste I wanted with a great room note. It’s a tobacco room note, but a very nice one. The taste is all the great notes about Red Virginia and Burley. I just knew uhles, Peretti, c&d would have that one for me I do like many but PS hit the mark for my personal taste. And is the cube cut 41! If it’s a stokkebye blend I’ll just buy it and try it. Great quality stuff. PSA tho, please learn how to pack and smoke a cube cut from an old timer if you can. No dry time for me, full flavor, light bakery/burley room note. Enjoy with coffee. Some may wish to have food on digest before enjoying. I do find that coffee is enough for me or coffee and a bagel. Wife has no complaints on smell. Definitely an all day smoke and an affordable one at that. My go to blends are Match field and stream, S. ABF. Hiking, Mocha Strips, and PS CC 41.

This is my second time smoking the cubes, each time being intrigued by the packing method; of just shoveling the stuff in without much packing pressure.

These cubes were less defined (likely from being tossed about as a bulk blend) and ended up being mix of rough pieces. They gave off a very pleasant, and sweet aroma beyond the natural Burley/Virginia earthiness, making me believe there is some amount of topping at work here.

Once fired up, the smoke resembles the bag aroma, allowed the natural goodness to come through, and stayed mild - an all day smoker. The cubes did a relatively decent job of holding a slow ember (kinda like a broken cake), but did konk out several times and asked for another match.

There wasn't much here to get overly excited about, yet it all worked for a clean, and simple thrill.

Hay and citrus flavors are noticeable upon initial lighting. About a quarter of the way through, a flavorful sweetness begins to come on. This stuff can be a bit difficult to light, but once you get it going, it burns quite nicely. Puff slowly, and gently, and this stuff really shines. Can't beat the price either!
