Peter Stokkebye Sweet Vanilla (No.6)
(3.28)
Ripe Virginias are added to Toasted Cavendish to create a more complex mild smoking blend. The aroma is an Elegant Vanilla with the natural sweetness of Toasted Cavendish combine for a smooth and rich smoke. According to Peter Stokkebye; The toasting process takes the tobacco to a much higher heat, locking in the natural sweet tobacco flavors and eliminating any tongue bite.

Peter Stokkebye has out done himself on this blend. This is a bulk tobacco that keeps it's taste for quite along time. The tobacco is a bit moist but nothing to be overly concerned with as the tobacco is easily packed but may take a couple of matches to keep it lit at first. The ribbon cut of the brown and gold Virginia?s are added to Toasted Cavendish to give this just the right amount of gentleness so there is no tongue bite along with Stokkebye's toasting process added with the Vanilla and the natural sweetness of the Virginia?s makes this an excellent tobacco
The taste of the Virginia?s only gets sweeter as the tobacco slowly burns to the bottom of the bowl. I smoked this tobacco at an outdoor function during an NRA Pistol Match and had people coming up to me all the time asking what tobacco I was smoking as smelled so delicious.
As a connoisseur of the Aromatics I will say I love it and have been smoking it for quite sometime now. Although, for those who do not like an aromatic this probably would not be for you.
I love it
Keep your pipe cool, smoke it slow, enjoy it longer

As a beginner I was eager to try Stokkebye’s blends and figured they’d make a nice aromatic vanilla. The price is great, too. Very inexpensive.
First impressions: I picked the Peterson 68 bowl deep and fairly tight, and after one match and some generous starter puffing, it stayed lit the whole way down with just a few tamps at long intervals.
Smoking slowly, it does have tons of flavor that change a bit as the burn continues. The smoke tastes at once sweet and mischeviously spicy. The room note is sweet and toasty. Of all the tobaccos I’ve tried, this one rewards slow smoking the most. Burn it too hot and it is very steamy and bites. It is better if I spread it out in a glass bowl and smoke it after a few hours of that. Oddly, with all the flavor, the smoke seems to lack body. It’s not a super thick smoke. I wouldn’t call it mild so much as light. It has a slight woody taste that lingers, some marshmallow notes… I taste fresh burning grass, ice and vodka, tangerine, vanilla butter cream, and even water chestnut.
I’d say it’s pretty darned good. A nice change of pace from my standby daily smokes like Plum Pudding and Nightcap which are stonky and aggressive. The Stokkebye is more subtle but unmistakable and I continue to go back to it, ghost or no. I’d buy it again. Against Captain Black original, it’s a lot smoother and has more depth of flavor. Way more interesting and alert, but still relaxing. More to enjoy. Captain Black tastes pedestrian and almost cheap by compare.

Light vanilla tin note. Slightly sweet/fruit/ vanilla taste with adequate smokiness but not a lot of body or nic content. Burns well (fast) without much fuss. No bitterness or bite encountered. It’s pleasant enough, but not what I generally prefer in a pipe tobacco. Kind of like vaping something vanilla flavored. I say that because it literally burns cool enough and tastes pleasant enough that you want to inhale.

I've been mostly happy with Stokkebye products, and since Vanilla is an easily approachable flavor, it was about time I give No.6 a try. The Cavendish forward mix had a familiar sweet, sugary bag aroma I've smelt several time before. In a word, it was your 'classic' Aromatic.
The mostly one dimensional Vanilla dust topping masked anything natural within, yet wasn't syrupy or sticky. In fact the decent sized ribbon cut had an almost rubbery feel to it; that packed nicely. The first few puffs were mild with an expected taste (a general sweetness delivered atop the Cavendish without much depth). It was OK, but nothing I would go out my way for.
Fell between those ultra sweet candy blends and those which use the additives to enhance the ingredients (like Dan's Honeydew).

Was really looking forward to this tobacco. Smoke it too fast then tongue bite. Smoke it too slow then it doesn't stay lit. Glad I didn't pay much money for it. I plan on smoking all of it just not my first or second choice. Just very little flavor. Disappointed.

I am currently a very new pipe smoker, as in less than a month. Being out in the boondocks I've been trying the drugstore varieties and have not been terribly happy.
On the recommendation of another pipe smoker I ordered an ounce of Sweet Vanilla online.
I like this tobacco very much. It didn't bite my tongue at all. I love the smell, I love the taste.

Funny, though it is labelled Sweet Vanilla, I'd swear I smell hints of raspberry in the pouch, mouth and room note. My wife said the same thing.
This tobacco starts off with a nice sweet flavour and room note, but it is short lasting. Before I get through one quarter bowl, the flavour and room note have greatly diminished.
The right moisture, it lights and stays lit. It is very well behaved and will not bite.....I don't think it knows how.
You could smoke this all day long but I think I'd get bored after one bowl.
A replacement for Captain Black it is not. At least the Captain maintains its flavour and room note until less than a third of a bowl remains, whereupon the Captain can get sour. But Sweet Vanilla won't sour. It stays smokable right to the end.
Would I buy it again? No. I'd buy the Capt'n. first, but for the newbie, and the not-hard-to-please, it is just fine.

This isn't bad. It has a very smooth taste of what i can only describe as baked vanilla. It burns fairly nice, and not hot at all. you can taste the tobacco along side of the vanilla however, it does smoke a little wet, and it would be better if you let it dry out a little.
Worth a try to anyone who enjoys vanilla tobacco, but wants a more savory vanilla as opposed to a sweet tooth cure (such as Vanilla Custard from Altadis).
It is safe to assume english smokers would take kindly to this blend.
