The Virginias are grassy, a little earthy with some citrus as they form a base for the other components. The Cyprian latakia is smokey, woody sweet and doesn’t dominate, but always makes its presence known as you would expect, though it does seem to lack a little of the force that I expected. The nutty sweet burleys are mostly in the background. The black cavendish has a touch of creamy vanilla as it helps to smooth out the blend. Has a mild nic-hit and doesn't bite. It burns at a moderate pace, cool and clean with few relights. Leaves very little moisture in the bowl. Two and a half stars.

I've tried the Finck "English" offerings from time to time over the years and found them to be unrewarding. The mixtures are variable, probably depending on the supplier. They are often too wet (literally!) and some have had a mildew-like odor behind either minimal Latakia or Virgina/Burley characteristics. This particular blend is slightly better than their other and earlier versions, but the Latakia note seems a little lost. All versions bite. Additionally, the prices aren't particularly competitive.
