Being a fan of Peterson pipes and having heard good things in general about their tobaccos as well, I was looking forward to trying this blend. Unfortunately that anticipation quickly dissipated.

Opening the tin it was hard to tell if there was actually tobacco inside, or if it had been mistakenly replaced with potpourri. A very overpowering, almost perfume-like smell emerged. The tobacco was very moist, to the point where I decided to dry it out quite a bit before trying it, this thankfully also seemed to reduce the fragrance a little.

The taste was nowhere near as bad as the smell, but still nothing to write home about. The tobacco was still overpowered by the casing and the whole blend felt quite bland and artifical. I gave it quite a few more tries, but halfway through the tin I just gave up and handed it to my neighbour, who interestingly enough was very positive and thought it was quite a good tobacco.

One star is perhaps a little harsh, apart from the initial smell it's not a horrible tobacco, it's just obviously not suited for my palette. But it's a subjective review after all and the simple fact is that I just wouldn't recommend this blend to anyone, and then one star is the only fair score.

Not that I've been hunting for anymore of this light, airy and aromatic blend, but with Murray's shut down, I'm simply wondering if Gold Blend was picked up when the Peterson's blends made the shift.

Gold Blend is classy in leaf and presentation, but the flavor is just not there for me. I like an occasional puff on the sweet side, but I also like to taste the tobacco and feel like I'm smoking without having to check the bowl to make sure the weed is lit.

Lovers of light aromatics with quality leaf will enjoy this one and that is why I give it three stars.

I'd recommend this for someone who likes aromatics, but doesn't want something excessively sweet or flavoured.

I personally like a bit more flavour.

Overall it's a good blend, and you can't really go too wrong with it.

Petersons Gold Blend. On morning of Friday, 1/31/20 I tried Petersons Gold blend for the first time. I had purchased this tin in Feb of 2019. I found the moisture content on this tin to be normal. The Tin Note was a slightly sweet or honey aroma. . Taking a dry unlit draw (Which I like to do) on a packed Comoy's Prince-Bent Pebble Grain (337PG) which had never been smoked I got the same light sweet/honey flavor mentioned for the tin note. The initial/char light was easy but it did take several relights with light tamping before I could get a good ember going. I found this blend to be an easy cool burning smoke with little to no tongue bite and no gurgle from excessive moisture. It required few relights after the ember was established. The flavor was mildly sweet with no noticeable topping and the flavor increased about ¼ to ½ way through the bowl. As to room note, I was the only person in the room at the time of the smoke. I did get up and leave the room and upon re-entering the room I found the room note to be pleasant. I was drinking cold water and later a diet Mt. Dew at the time of the smoke. Over all I would give this blend a 2 out of 4 stars for my taste. It was not an unpleasant experience however it lacked in flavor for my taste.

At my local tobacco shop, I'm accustomed to purchasing Dunhill blends. Out of curiosity I purchased Peterson Gold blend, and I was extremely impressed by this wonderful mixture. The sweet, aromatic blend tastes pleasantly on the palate, tasting some hints of vanilla. Overall a great blend to start off with if one is not used to the Peterson brand.

If anyone remembers Wessex Premier Rich Aroma this is almost the same. Light , sweet with the hickory nut extract aroma. Hickory nut i like, tonquin i dont ( go figure) but if you like hickory nuts then you will find this pleasing. Its light and mild and the room note is very nice. You do taste virginia and a little burley here and there but hickory nut runs the show here.

This being my first tobacco and who introduced me to this noble art and bad habit smoking pipe I have much appreciation and moving this will be the most objective possible aroma on Tin as most of the aromatics is lovely for my it is creamy and Caramelized, an aromatic that does not heat lot and easy burning is what helped me to maintain my healthy language and have the frustration of relight the pipe to all times at Bay for a nobel smoker as I was is much to be desired for a mixture and highly recommended for new smokers, its strength is mild to medium which gives a quiet smoke its flavor is pleasant in the mouth and the note in room is very good is that he would buy it again.

Maybe I got a bad batch, but I just didn't get this blend. I smoke a lot of Petersons, and enjoy most of their English and aromatics. This one bit like a terrier and smoked very hot. No discernible taste other than hot air.

This blend, especially since coming from Peterson, was a real disappointment to me. It also is the first blend from Peterson i sampled since their move to STG and i hope its not characteristic for the new make of the Peterson blends. But since their pipe production also reached an undescribeable low, i have not much confidence into that.

It did not offer me any pleasures whatsoever, the smell out of the tin already greeted me with an artificial, chemical note to it which carried on in the smoke. I bravely emptied the tin but was tempted more than once to toss out what i had left over. I also didn't care much for the crossover it offered to my pipes. Also it had a tendency to burn hot, although even, and overall was really unpleasant.

I really would like to write something positive as well but nothing at all comes to mind. Not even the usual scapegoats like price (too high for whats being offered) or the tin (too dull and boring). But ok, the room note was ok.

In the end i cannot recommend this blend to anyone. Even if it would have worked on me then there still would have been a dozen cheaper blends out there with the same composition, so in the end, why contemplating to hassle with it?

This Peterson Gold blend aromatic, like most of the aromatics I've enjoyed in the past, smells delicious but unfortunately does deliver in the taste department when smoked. I find it to be a little thin for want of a better word, and as with some of the other Peterson aromatics has to be smoked slowly to ensure that your not bitten back. I guess I suffered the tongue bite due to wanting to get the full taste like the scent and rushed it at first!

Needs to be dried or aired a little before smoking as its very moist when new. The room note is pleasant but heavy.

Please I've tried it,and I have left it year before smoking again before this review, but won't be buying another tin.

I guess these type of aromatics don't suit me, but still a quality tobacco.
