When I found this tin at my local tobacco shop, it had a date of April 25th, 2002. It is 2008 and I just happened to find this on a shelf, purchased it, and opened the can as I left the shop. . The smell from the tin was so wonderful that I just had to try some as soon as possible. Let me put this in perspective. You cannot smoke in the shop where I bought this stuff, the temperature outside was in the mid 90's, I deplore the heat, and there was a pretty hot breeze that day. I still sat myself down and filled a bowl. There are not enough O's in smooth to describe this stuff. The mixture of black Cavendish and Latakia was just right. The burn was excellent throughout the bowl. The ash is clean and grey. The nicotine level was just right for me. That is, it was on the heavier side. Since that first light, I've had an opportunity to smoke this stuff in more comfortable surroundings. This only added to my enjoyment. Proper English fans will not like this, because the Latakia is not terribly prominent. However, many other smokers will love it. I cannot comment on the room note because the wife makes me smoke ALL Latakia blends outside. I, for my part, think that this stuff kind of smells like a fireplace. It is my hope that Cornell & Diehl will re-issue this soon. My tin is half smoked and the closest I can come is Peter Stokkebye's English Oriental Supreme. It is close, but no cigar...pipe.
