I bought it out of curiosity because it comes from Hoggarth, who I consider one of the top three (if not the best) manufacturers of pipe tobaccos.
It contains Sweet Virginia, Burley and various Cavendish. It has a flavor of caramel with a slight vanilla and of course the foamy taste that almost all Hoggarth smokes have. It is certain it does not bring about any tongue biting, as it gives off an amazing scent in the room.
A pleasant interval from the Orientals I smoke, without reaching the exact opposite of fully aromatic. I will take two more boxes, just to spare. It contains no Latakia, something my friend Peter feared when he smoked it.
P.S. I think it has a slight taste of whiskey, without being absolutely positive about it.

This is a great blend for a change when you just want to puff away on a aromatic. This tobacco will yeild to you and will not bite. I enjoy smoking this when reading a good book. Smooth, almost no taste and a very nice floral aroma. I have some Lane 1Q and American Delite is nothing like it. Recommended for novice and advance puffers.

Wow, this blend gave me a flashback to my early pipe smoking days when I use to frequent the "Pipe Dream" in Marblehead Mass. I believe the blend that Ben sold that tasted like this one was called Danish Pastry. Defintely flavored and definitely an aromatic.
Yet, I kinda like this change of pace. I doubt very much that I will smoke more than one or two bowls a week, however, it is a refreshing change of pace. Especially during the Summer months.
It does remind me also of Capt Black Blue, and as KCorona stated above it is much less goopy than the aforementioned.
Geez, all of a sudden, I am back in the late seventies with a small GBD pipe, (and hair!)
Now, it is usually Kendel Dark in an old' Charatan Extra Large, lol.
Last note, my wife likes the scent of this blend, that's the first time in a long while that I have heard a positive comment from her on one of my blends. Might be worthwhile keeping some of this on hand when the kids are out. 😉

My purchased-in -USA tin of this blend is labeled “American Delite” over a tired and dirty looking American flag. I’m pretty sure that the tobacco in my tin was the same as that reviewed by others under this header, namely American Blend Delight. Tin popped, no doubt this is an aro. Although coconut is not mentioned, I get this, also some tonquin, in addition to the cocoa, caramel, vanilla and flowery Plum/prune others mention, and, of course, some Lakeland geranium, well back. I could not get this to burn well at first, and it came off as un-sorted, so I jarred it, pretty much forgot about it. 4 or 5 months later, it’s a pip! I smoke it in a fairly voluminous pot, packed loosely, and I’ve found the rested AD to be an easy, comfortable smoke, once it’s well lit. Strength is between mild and medium, with scant nicotine, and the smooth, delicious tastes are medium. I can smell and taste everything I listed through the smoke, along with very sufficient tobacco flavor that is quite nutty and just a little earthy, with very faint peat. The Cav is sweet, also a little sour, and I do not find it at all cloying, The VAs and Burleys are very well melded, quite rich, nutty and deep brown bread-y, and they quite fulfill their mission in this blend. There’s enough real tobacco smell to make the room note less than purely pleasant. Aftertaste is a lingering best of the smoke. And there are no “chemical” tastes to spoil the smoke!
I’m glad I went back and tried this again. I am surprised how satisfying I find this blend, given how generally “lightweight” it is. The remainder won’t last! Four stars.

Bought as an experiment. Found this tobacco contained a strong cherry note. Very moist and could perhaps benefit from a larger pipe chamber. Will continue to experiment

Bought this blend in bulk and it came at a good moisture content. Bag note for me has vanilla, chocolate, and something else in the back which I can't quite place, perhaps the fruit topping?
After an easy light I have to say I was disappointed to begin with, I could barely detect anything I expected to taste after such a promising bag note. Pausing and slowing down the smoke, I found about a quarter of the bowl in this blend really opened up. The taste is definitely mild, but has a very pleasant light sweetness. I could taste the chocolate and vanilla, but they don't mask the natural tobacco flavours. Further into the bowl the nuttiness of the burley gave the smoke an almost coconut and chocolate flavour which I found delightful (pardon the pun).
The tobacco kept a great taste to the last 10th I'd say and stayed nice and cool (although I smoked this on a brisk December night on the balcony). Mouth feel was also thick and full something I very much appreciate. At the end I was left with a fine white Ash.
A nice smoke but perhaps not a blend I would rush out and buy again.

This one is quite strange. I've been smoking a pipe regularly for a few years and have sampled a decent variety of aromatics, English blends, VaPers and straight Virginias. This is the first tobacco that I immediately disliked on the first bowl.
It has a very nice smell in the tin, vanilla and some fruit is what I pick up. But virtually no flavor, at least at first. And I definitely pick up a weird mouth feel -- I can see what people mean when they describe a "soapy taste" in Lakeland/Gawith Hoggarth blends.
BUT -- it's grown on me. Its a very smooth smoke. And if you sip and give it time, I pick up chocolate (not vanilla so much) and berry notes. And it is very clearly a high quality tobacco. Great smoke output and very smooth. And I don't mind the "soapy" mouth feel -- it's almost like the smoke is a little chewy.
Still not my favorite, but I will go through the two tins as an occasional smoke. Probably won't buy more.

I find it interesting that many reviewers are citing a caramel flavour, when what I can glean is clearly a dark cherry topping. It is what strikes me from start to finish with this one, but there is sort of a floral bouquet as well. I ordered it in bulk, and yet it is still a bit too moist (others have stated that it was drier and less intense when ordered in bulk). I can say that if this is what I got in bulk, it must be drowning wet in a tin.
I really wanted to like this, as GH&C is a house to be respected, but after 3 bowls so far, in each case the bowl turned foul and quite bitter after the first third. I found myself wishing I was smoking other blends during the bowl - not a good sign. Also, I must say that even after a vodka cleaning of the three pipes I tried this in, each were ghosted from a single smoke. After a good cleaning and a day of rest to dry, I made the mistake of packing a VaPer (precious last Hal O' The Wynd) and it was muddied and unpleasant.
I am not saying this blend doesn't have a place and not trying to sound overly negative, but I will be letting the blend dry and age considerably before attempting it again, and when I do, I will reserve it for a single pipe due to its persistence. Not sure I can recommend this to others.
***Update 3/16/20. After 11 months in a jar, it has managed to settle. After a heavy carnivorous meal of beefsteak, I perused my jar rack and ran across this blend. Like all G&H, it packs a punch by midbowl, so I thought I would give it a go. This time, I selected a meer, having learnt my lesson as above about ghosting. After lighting up, I noticed a baker’s delight. While still getting dark fruit (I had originally noted a strong dark cherry, above), the chocolate came through much more obviously, all with a pleasant breath of vanilla under it all. I must say, I have come full circle on this blend and truly enjoyed this to cap off a great meal. Upping this severely from 1 star to 3! It must be the moisture change and some age, but this is night and day and made for a great smoke!

Recd this blend by accident, asked the Better 1/2 for GH Round Cavendish, with the intent of softening the current state of my Amnesia blend (24 oz decanter where 2 and 3 stars often marinate into surprisingly good smoke....just not currently).
So on the positive side this ended up being a good all-around blend, the best vanilla blend I've had to date, Of note is that the texture of AD is very soft, not just because of lack of woody bits, but more from the uniformity of the baccy. Almost miicro-shag in its feel, if you will...my suggestion to the wife of having her stuff a pillow with it for sleep-akin to the Sobakawa pillow was summarily shot down.
She did like the porch note though.
Smooth, no bite to speak of, no real Lakeland sauce either. Only negative (for me anyway) is the lack of Nicotine.
Having said that, I may try 1Q now, to see comparison.

This isn't bad. It is also not that exciting. To me, it's a wonderful backup for something else. It would probably be the crown jewel of a mass production, gas station line of cheap pipe tobaccos, but it's not. It's marketed as something an American would take delight it, which may be true, depending on taste and interpretation, but I'd recommend this blend to be placed between two blends you really enjoy, if only to enhance your love of those.
