HU Tobacco Buchstoun
(3.50)
English Black Cavendish, ready rubbed Virginia from Mysore and Cyprian Latakia form the basis of the HU Tobacco "Buchoun" . The combination was refined with the aroma of Scottish berries, especially the Scottish raspberry Glen Coe. Add to this the herbal aromas of the Scottish forests.
The HU Tobacco "Buchoun" impresses with its distinctive fruitiness with rather subtle floral notes. The Latakia also creates a moment of tension here. It acts as the opposite pole and gives the mixture a very special depth. All in all: fruity lively, smoky distinctive.

The various sweet and floral Scottish berry toppings largely control the experience. The ready rubbed Virginia provides some tart and tangy citrus, grass, bread, sugar, floralness, earth and wood. The leathery, sweet Cyprian Latakia offers some smoke, wood, earth, floralness, and herbs. It is in between being a condiment and a secondary support role. It’s hard to determine the effect of the English black cavendish because I don’t know if it was topped or cased before it was added to the mix. There’s no tobacco flavor from it. The strength is medium. The taste just crosses that line. The nic-hit is a step below the strength level. No chance of bite or harshness, and sports no rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate with a very consistent, smooth, deeply rich fruity, sugary, herbal, floral, mildly smoky flavor that extends to the pleasantly lingering after taste and room note. Leaves very little dampness in the bowl. Requires a couple more than an average number of relights. An experienced aromatic smoker may consider this to be an all day smoke. Three and a half stars.
