Peterson - Summertime 2020 (Limited Edition).

As this is only supplied in 100g tins, at £31.50 a go, it can be a costly mistake should the first bowl be a deterrent from the rest of the tin. Luckily for me, although I'm not finished with the tin yet, I find it a winner!

The tin requires a 'knack' to remove the lid, as is often the case with the Pete' specials. And the gold foil packaging which holds the blend needs just as much of a special touch to break the seal! Once into it at a quick glance the blend looks mostly bright Virginias and black Cavendish. On closer inspection the dark brown Burley can be identified. It includes some very coarse pieces, but also a lot of regular ribbons, and has a berry like aroma. The moisture's bang on.

The blackcurrant and apple topping are DEFINITE in the smoke. The blackcurrant takes the lead, easily. This give a bitter-sweet taste, a touch acidic, and a little ambrosial. The apple sits a few rows back, offering some saccharinity and juiciness to the smoke, but isn't as piquant. This topping has enough intensity to make it tough for the tobaccos to gain much recognition. I get quite a basic, typical, base for an aromatic blend; yes, there's Virginia and Burley, with a softening of Cavendish, but the strength of the topping doesn't afford much opportunity to pick out grass, hay, wood, molasses, etc. Now, to be negative, although the cut's fairly coarse my bowls can burn quickly if not savoured. But, back on the positive side it doesn't bit me!

Nicotine: mild-ish. Room-note: lovely.

Summertime 2020? The only thing abating the score from four to three is the speed it can burn at:
