Cornell & Diehl Sugarplum
(3.00)
Cornell & Diehl's Wintertime Reserve: Sugarplum is a fragrant mixture of bright Virginias and cavendish, redolent with notes of exotic fruit from the Middle East, pressed and cut into an old-fashioned crumble cake. A dessert blend with an intoxicating aroma.

Cornell & Diehl - Sugarplum (Wintertime Reserve).
Often as not I don't get along with a lot of fruity aromatics. Not cherry, red fruits, plums, etc., but shaper citrus, apple or orange flavoured blends. I never read the description to this, just saw a new C&D blend and ordered some. Well, it's a definite winner, to me; I've just ordered some more to cellar!
The kake is extremely loose. So loose it could be confused for a ribbon that's just been tightly packed! The colour's mostly a mix of dark and medium browns and the aroma from it's only very mild; delicately fruity but not over the top. Mine had perfect moisture. Due to the build it doesn't need crumbling or breaking, the blend can be pinched easily.
'Top shelf aromatic'...... that could be the review! But I'll try to give a better elucidation! The addition of fruit seems mild. It isn't awash with harsh citrus or overly bitter cherries, more like a soft touch of passion fruit. Along with a creamy note of vanilla the flavour's one for dessert! The tobacco gives a flavour of simple cavendish. I don't get sharp Virginias or clumsy black Cavendish, just standard honey-sweet Cavendish. It burns well, maybe too well? LOL, the only flaw is it can go a little quick! But the smoke's cool and it doesn't bite!
Nicotine: mild. Room-note: nice.
Sugarplum? I'll put the slight speed down to me overindulging and puffing like a hog! Four stars:
Highly recommended.
