Sutliff Tobacco Co. - Panna Cotta.

After a diet of mostly VaPers recently (lots of C+D Small Batch Carolina Red Flake w/Perique and G+H Reunion No. 27) I fancied something more languorous so reached for my tin of this. I like an aromatic to have a gluttonous feel to it which is the case with Panna Cotta!

I disagree with the classification of the cut. It's coarse cut, not a straight ribbon, it includes some, no lots, of leafier pieces! The tin-note is very sweet but also slightly toasty. Although the cut is coarse PC doesn't have lots of twiggy pieces in it, my tin only had one twig in there! Mine was moist but as anybody who bothers to read my reviews will probably know that suits me!

The smoke? At the risk of sounding vainglorious it's heavenly! There's plenty of sugary, opulent caramel, this rules for the first third. After this point the custard-like vanilla creates a creaminess which goes wonderfully with the black Cavendish. Speaking of the tobaccos I struggle to detect the Virginias, I get a smoke made of slightly caustic Burley, backed up by some sweet Cavendish. Due to the cut I get a cool smoke and even though it was a touch damp the burn's faultless.

Nicotine: mild. Room-note: lovely.

Panna Cotta? My idea of a great aromatic! Highly recommended:

Four stars.

As a newer pipe smoker, I am mainly exploring the different blends (I favor aromatic blends, although I am dipping my toes into the non-aromatic blends now) to find what I like. Opening the tin, what I smelled was a heavy vanilla note. The flavor I tasted was vanilla and caramel. I did not have any tounge-bite with this blend, but it was wet and had to relight.
