Very darkly fruity with a little bit of citrus. Some leather and straw notes, to a much lesser extent.

The room note is definitely very pleasant, better than average in fact.

The smoke is a little rough around the edges. There's a little more bite than I'm used to from a Virginia this mild, and there's a harshness on the back of the throat.

ETA: After sitting in the jar for a week, I'm giving it another star. The bite went away and some of the rough edges worked themselves out.

I bought some tins of this about a year ago or so. After about a week in a jar I set out to smoke my first bowl of this. To be honest I wasn't impressed at all. I found it to be very green and young tasting and it was the same anytime I smoked a bowl of it in the first six months. So I put it in the back of the cellar in hopes that aging would improve this leaf. One year in a jar seemed to have done the trick to eliminate that greenness and bring out a wide range of red Virginia flavors. Now it reminds me of a somewhat muted version of their excellent Cringle Flake. It has nice fruity flavors, earth, sweetness and just a little spice. I am very happy to have found a tobacco that that will help me conserve my stash of Cringle Flake, I just need to jar a bunch up for the future. Nice smoke that will be put somewhere in the monthly rotation.

Tin note; Fig Newton, rye bread, red vinegar, pink eraser, Play-Doh

A dark red cake with visible sugar crystallization. Breaks up into fine flake with considerable moisture.

Bowl lit with some difficulty due to moisture content. Char light and early smoke is pure Lipton sweet tea and then develops into a pleasant smoke with stewed fig, dry hay and an unusual Play-Doh note. Minimal tongue bite when smoked aggressively. Above average number of relights due to moisture.

Mid bowl retains some tin notes with a bit of cigarette smoke and a little pipe gurgle. Room note is non aromatic, sweet smoke. Nicotine is on the high side of medium.

Found this enjoyable but, challenging to smoke and hard to keep lit. Will likely dry this for an hour next time before packing and try a different pipe. A talented player, maybe on the roster, but currently not a starter.

Tin note of pungent sweet, vinegar and sugar. Tobacco is a Krumble Kake of reddish brown with flecks of tan. Moisture content is good. Kake breaks apart and rubs out easily. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and very consistent, with notes of sweet bread, tart and tangy stewed dark fruit, very savory, wood, floral hay, spices, sugar, vinegary fermented sour, citrus, slightly acidic, a lemon grassy background note, and a peppery retro. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great.

For a red virginia leaf, this crumble cake was disappointing. Tin note was vinegar. Flavor fell flat. Some spice, but no other flavors. I missed the typical virginia sweetness. Not recommended.

Y'all know from the reviews that this is a thick cut slice. The virginia is fabulous. Tangy sweet. Very good with a ale. My new football & beer tobacco.
