Holger Danske Black & Bourbon

Well, what do we have here? A lovely drawing of a Viking drakkar on a black background. A tobacco blend with Burley and Black Cavendish flavored with bourbon. Is that right? I don't know. I'm not familiar with bourbon, although I know it's not as sweet. That's it. A tobacco that burns quickly with a lot of sugar. Despite that, it's an aromatic that doesn't attack the tongue or palate. It creates some moisture if smoked quickly. Still, it's not aggressive, and the very sweet flavor persists until the end. A rich dessert that you can smoke at any time of the day, especially if you want to enjoy aromatic tobacco in a short time. I'm not a big fan of aromatics, although some are worth recommending. And this is one of them. If you like a sweet, easy-to-smoke aromatic that doesn't bite, you should give it a try.

No lies, I had enjoyed Borkum Riff Bronze and when gone for second pouch of it shop was out of stock. So this is how I met with the black & bourbon. It's not cased as much as magic vanilla or mango-vanilla. Has a sweet smoke with the bourbon taste at the background and able to give you the full taste from start to end of the bowl. I actually expected more bourbon taste but okay still does the job. Huge portion of compenants are cavendish and burley. No tongue bite and cool smoke but somehow manages to burn super fast. That's actually an achievement, burning so fast but not being so hot. After taste is not really good, room note is pleasent. Although it feels more chemical I would choose borkum riff over this one. An all day smoke. 2 points for the taste and 1 point for burning performance.

Even my inexperienced pallet can notice a difference in quality between this blend and blends a few dollars more expensive. If you only have enough money to buy this blend, go for it. It satisfies and isn’t harsh. It has the sweet, smooth, velvety texture from its cavendish base, complimented by the mild burley. The bourbon casing comes across as more of a muddled mix of subtly sweet fruit flavors. This blend can bite if pushed but generally has a tendency not to. Good for the price point, but I personally don’t plan on revisiting this blend.

This is a lot like Lane 1-Q but with a “sweet bourbon” topping. It has a very similar taste as 1-Q but with the bite expected from MB blends if pushed so ease up on your puffing. A great crowd pleaser with its delicious room note.

Develops into more of a “straight” Burley after the toppings vaporize off by the halfway point in your bowl. Very low nicotine (less than 1-Q) which I appreciate. I could smoke this all day. Worth picking up a tin if you like mild aromatics.

Tabacco aromatizzato e piacevole. Taglio grosso, brucia lentamente con un aroma pieno e gustoso. A volte leggermente umido per cui è meglio farlo asciugare un poco. Tagliato al 50% con Trinciato Italia diventa portentoso. Prezzo abbastanza basso(specie in Italia). Consigliatissimo
