Peter Heinrichs Latakia Flake
(3.00)
Latakia Flake is a full bodied, decently spicy speciality from Cyprian latakia, dark fired Kentucky from the USA, and African Virginia. Dark Fired Kentucky and Virginia are fermented twice to enhance the natural sweetness and afterwards blended with the latakia. This mixture is pressed for 14 days. Before the pressing natural oils such as rose, cinnamon and coriander oil are added which give this tobacco a special scent. This blend is full bodied, tastes smoky in the beginning and then a bold smoking experience builds up.

Another fine Peter Heinrichs ( K&K produced) fascinating blend which is said to have double fermented African Virginia, Dark Fired Kentucky from America and Cyprian Latakia. Then it is aledgedly flavoured with Rose Oil, Coriander and Cinnamon before being pressed for two weeks. The result is a fascinating blend which is creamy, rich tasting with lots of subtle back and mid ground flavours that keep it enticing right down to the end of the bowl. It is not overly Lakelandish, but rather sweet and nutty. Indeed the coriander and cinnamon are working in tandem to provide a spicy and sweet backdrop upon which the Latakia is appreciated and savoured. The tobacco is quite black in colour and crumbles easily, so do not overly rub it out. It pairs perfectly with some Lapsang Souchong tea, a rich barrel aged Pinot Noir or a peated Whisky such as Ledaig 10 or Port Charlotte 10. What does it for me, is the excellent combination of flavour that when paired properly, provides a prolonged period of calm, blissful enjoyment on this chilly Italian January Sunday. Grazie. SF Definitely worth a try
