Cornell & Diehl Old Court
(2.60)
An honorable mixture of burley and Latakia, spiced with a prudent amount of perique, and sweetened with a conservative touch of broken Virginia flake, this blend should serve you well when there's plenty on the docket.

The burley and Latakia play nicely and the perique and cavendish play nice. The Virginia’s do show up but on the back end. It’s a fun English blend. Easy enough to smoke all day but doesn’t leave you wishing for flavor. Can smoke very quickly so you’ll need to watch it and not get too hot.
Otherwise, I love it. It’s in my standard rotation.

While perhaps not for beginners, this could be a great all-day smoke for veteran English lovers.
Latakia is prominent here along with Burley and a nice spicy kick from the Perique. The Virginia is here.....somewhere.
Easy to lite, burns slow and clean with no dottle or gurgle. There's nic here but not too much to do damage. Room note is what you would expect from this type of blend. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this outdoors or alone lest you endure the wrath of your significant other.
Quality smoke from C&D.

Had looked for a close match to Old Briar. This is close. Cool easy old time American English. Good all day smoke. What more could one want.

I picked up Old Court during a bulk CD sell so this is based on the bulk not tinned version
Bag note was smoky and the moisture level is fine for packing even though I usually let mine dry out a little. The bag is well mixed ribbon cut. Fairly dark overall. Easy to pack and light.
The Latakia definitely takes the lead while the other members of the jury poke their heads in from time to time. The perique gives some spicy notes but I find the Virginian to not be noticed except for maybe a sweet base. I added maybe 10% extra Carolina Red ribbon after a few bowls and found it more to my preferred balance..
When I first started smoking a pipe again I visited Smitty's Cigar and Clark gave me some 505 to try. This is the closest CD blend to that I've found even though the 505 used McClellan Virginia in the mix back then and skipped the Black Cavendish
I found Old Court to be a good blend but I doubt I'll be buying more as I have some 505 stashed.
