Four different Virginia provencies and a portion of a delicate Oriental tobacco are fermented together in the press together with the addition of a traditional discreetly fruity fig casings and then stored to maturity. A flake inspired by tradition, slow burning, cool smoke and gently sweet taste.

Fig extract is strong, floral, and "lakeland." This blend is just heavenly. And will appeal to any lover of Gawith & Hoggarth blends. As heavily scented as anything I have tried from Samuel Gawith or Gawith & Hoggarth. This flake is the best venture into a lakeland blend outside of the Isles. This is a masterpiece . Wave after wave of the deepest floral richness. About impossible to find in the USA, someone needs to hassle Dan Tobacco to import this, and "little wren" into the states. I am surprised no one has rated this blend. It is destined to join the ranks of classic lakeland flakes, but will surpass many of them for many smokers, because the casing is so floral strong. This blend has little tobacco taste, just florals, with a room note to die for. This is the first blend I have tried which caused a young woman walking by to stop, ask to try a sip of, it smelled so good, and she said, unlike anything she had ever smelled. I gave her a few flakes to take home from my tin, but I didn't want to part with any! I received this from a friend in Germany, who not only smokes this, so does his wife, almost exclusively. This is a real novelty in the world of pipe tobacco. I can see this becoming the go-to tobacco for many, many smokers.

Fig extract, if fermented correctly, is as floral as ylang ylang oil, but in a different way, not so "banana sweet" more like molasses sweet, but that description does not convey the floral element so present in fig extract.

I would give this blend 5 stars if I could.
