The smokey, woody Cyprian latakia takes a mild lead over the other components. The earthy, tangy dark fruit sweet red Virginia is the base of the blend, and is crowded out just a little by the earthy, nutty, molasses sweet burley. The buttery sweet, lightly sour and musty Smyrna underscores the experience. There a couple pinches of plumy, spicy perique in the mix as well. There’s a slight sweet topping, perhaps sugar, but it doesn’t tone down the tobaccos much at all, and is barely noticeable. The nic-hit is mild. The strength and taste levels are mild to medium. No chance of bite or harshness. Burns at a moderate pace, cool and clean with a rather smooth, very consistent flavor all the way through. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires few relights. Has a pleasant, smoky sweet after taste, and the room note won’t displease anybody, which is not always the case for an English blend. Three and a half stars out of four.

Villiger - English Export.
Quite a surprise.
The blend is made of medium to large sized ribbons and includes an equal dissemination of each variety of tobacco. The moistness of the blend is as I like: slightly moist but smokeable straight away.
The smoke: to me, at the risk of sounding obsequious towards Gentleman Zombie, his line about every component being near equal sums it up perfectly. The flavour's quite impartial with the constituents, without having a heavy smokiness, strong sharpness, or tangy sourness. Although there isn't a topping of any sort I get a buttery/creaminess in the smoke. The one thing that reduces the rating is tongue bite, it starts out as only a nip but gets stronger as a bowl progresses. The burn's consistent but I find it a bit fast.
The room-note from E.E. is nice, and the nicotine sits just below medium.
If it weren't for the tongue bite English Export would be highly recommended but as it is I think it deserves three stars:
Recommended.
