Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish (Ruby)

A very strong smoke. It is simple, nothing special about it. You can feel the strength and from the very beginning and definitely becomes harsh in the end.

I don't usually smoke aros so this review doesn't come from someone who has an interest in these sorts of tobaccos. So weight my opinion accordingly.

This was a gift from my family for Fathers Day (Bless 'em) and no doubt, not one of them being a user of tobacco in any form, this is what the tobacconist told them was popular. I'd be willing to bet that this tobacco, and others of its ilk, remains on the best seller list because of non smokers buying it as a gift.

It is what it is. It smells really nice. It smokes like a dream; absolutely trouble free. Light and go and your good till it's all burnt up. If there's a tobacco flavour under all the cherry and vanilla, it will take a better nose than mine to discover it. Honestly, it's not that bad. And I was dreading lighting a bowl up. So I feel good that my low expectations were bettered. So points just for not being total crap.

I would in fact recommend this to someone who genuinely enjoyed aros. And there's nothing wrong with that; no need for us to be tobacco snobs. So 3 for those guys and 2 for everyone else.

This tobacco is just OK. No good, not bad at all. I will smoke it if I cannot find anything better.

Everyone uses to like the smell of this tobacco, except the smoker oneself. It really feels like smoking incense; very wet and requiring a more than the average of pipe cleaning, it gargles a lot in the bowl and bites like a snake. It is a very available brand, which makes it worthy to get used to it, for travelers. But it doesn't make a good experience. I personally mix it with other less flavored but more elegant tobaccos.

The smell from the bag was ok however once lit i did not detect any of the cherry. It burned quite hot and often went out. I will not buy another bag but it was ok to try.

Being a new pipe smoker, I decided to try it out. I had a bit of a time keeping it lit (could be inexperience) but it did have a bit of tongue bite, and it did leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I may have to come back later and give it a try once time has given me some more experience, but I cant say I enjoyed it.

This is probably the best offering from Borkum Riff, if I may speak so...

Not a great tobacco, by all means. But not terrible either.

i like the smell of this blend when it is lit even though it gave me a lot of tongue bites and constant relighting.

it's something that i'd smoke once in a while, but i'd go for the others...
