Alsbo black is one of the cheaper pipe tobaccos available here in the uk, and given I do like a black Cavendish mixture I thought why not.

Opening the pack I was very surprised it is more Virginia burley and a good mix of cavendish, as soon as I realised this a lovely vanilla note hit my nose mixed with chocolate prunes and plum.

Packing is easy and it takes the light easily right out of the pack.

Smoking is a joy, just enough nicotine to refresh and revitalise and them sumptuous aromas that met my nose transfer well to the pallet. Bite is not even thought of it is a very smooth creamy smoke with good mouth feel.

Room note is beautiful and shouldn't offend anyone.

Deffinitely a keeper this one, a fantastic mild moreish all day smoke.

As a side note, this tastes very similar to borkum riff original which is sadly no longer available in the uk, so if you are mourning it's passing this is a very worthy replacement.

I'm a beginner pipe smoker (2 years?) but can already tell some differences in good/bad tobaccos. I like aromatics, because same as many people I have begun my smoking journey with aromatics, namely Peterson - Connoisseurs Choice which is luxury. I smoked many others non-aros as well and prefer straight virginias now, but often I reach for easy-to-smoke aromatic for eveyday smoking pleasure.

I've been going around a typical tobacco shop on my way to work and always looked on what he has - the typical OTC blends. I've bought one and it was bad. I've read the reviews on the rest of them here on this site and realized that it's usually not good. But this one had quite good reviews so I bought it, because it was also fairly cheap!

I've opened it with absolutely no expectations and the vanilla aroma smelled very pleasantly and reminded me somewhat of Peterson CC. Also the black cavendish is very similar there. The mix is like 50:50 of dark tobacco and light brown. Moisture was without problem - ready to be smoked fresh from the pouch. Packs lightly and burns without any problems. Does not get hot, only sometimes when I puffed quickly (which is a matter of technique). No tongue bite whatsoever.

Overally a very pleasant smoke! For the money I can absolutely recommend this to people who like aromatics on black cavendish base. Sure, there are better tobaccos out there, but you can buy this one almost everywhere and it's actually really worthwile and easy to smoke!

PS: I love how nicely sweet my moustache smells after this tobacco. This thing is an important rating factor for tobaccos for me 🙂

First pipe tobacco I tried in the early '90s. I still come back to it again and again. Not strong at all but such a comforting taste and feel. I will continue to smoke this lovely sweet blend. ## edit ## Its great actually. Just realised that I smoke quite a lot of this. I seem to get more pipes per ounce too.

This is the first tobacco I smoked and really enjoyed. I think this stuff is great and usually have some lying around. It is mild and has a great room note. Even non smokers will be complementing you on your choice of tobacco. I usually smoke this when I've got company as most folks really like the aroma. I'd recommend this to a new pipe smoker as it is not too strong and is a very pleasant mild smoke. I personally find Alsbo Black to be a great smoke any time of day or night.

This is a fine tobacco. Pouch says vanilla and hazelnut. Don?t know about the hazelnut, but this is a typical Danish cavendish aromatic with vanilla aroma. The taste however, is rather more like tobacco than dessert. Mild in strenghth and easy to smoke- typicaly Danish ?no problem? smoke. After a few bowls of English blends, I smoke this one to please my wife with ?something that doesn?t stink like that other stuff I smoke?. I smoke this to the end of the bowl, and it leaves nothing more than fine gray ashes and a nice smell to the room.

One tends to leave aromatics in the trend to more refined tobaccos, learning the joys of fine Virginias and the rich Latakias - odes be payed to these all mighty Godessess of fumes. However, the love certain non-smokers demands the use of unoffensive smelling tobaccos. This is the best I know for such purposes. I wouldn't even call it an aromatic if I'd never crossed the path of someone smoking it. As a bonus, it actualy as *TOBACCO* in it, and it is GOOD, much above average, dispite it's wonderful room note - people turn their heads around sniffing like cockerspaniels - but not fruit-like, just pipesmoke. The rich cavendish smoke is delightful and rich. Never had a tongue-bite, as it is not wet as the so-called commercial aromatics. So I do keep it at hand and smoke it even when I'm alone.
