Alsbo Black
(2.78)
Extremely mild with a full round taste and hazelnut/vanilla aroma. A non-biting smoke that can be enjoyed all day long.

Alsbo - Black.
Retyped 21/08/18.
Surprisingly, for a blend named Black, the majority of it's brown! Nit picking aside, though, the unlit blend has many positive points: coarse ribbons, more like a mixture, perfect hydration, with a sweet nutty aroma.
Like in the pouch note, the best way of describing the aromatic flavour would be sweet and nutty. The brown Cavendish easily outweighs the black, preventing the smoke having a 'sticky' character. Although it doesn't bite, a word of warning goes to the temperature: should I puff with too much alacrity I find it becomes a touch warm. So, I'd recommend a more tentative technique. Also, a gentle technique betters the speed: puff harshly and it will burn fast, but sipping with ease will supply a longer smoke.
Nicotine: not much. Room-note: nutty and lovely!
Alsbo Black? A nice enough smoke for a recommendation:
Three stars.

Package note of spiced vanilla, nuts and tangy fruit. Tobacco is a thick ribbon of brown, dark brown and a little black. Moisture content is good. Some pipe smokers may want to humidify it a bit. Burns slightly fast with few relights. The strength is mild and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild to medium, with notes of nuts, vanilla and fruit. The flavoring is quite strong in the beginning. Vanilla disappears in the first 1/3 and the nutty lessens. The nutty drops to the background around the second 1/3. The tangy dark fruity lessens a little but never goes away. Taste is mild to medium and mostly consistent, with notes of vanilla, tart and tangy citrus, spices, toasted sweet nutty, bread, sugar, very savory, rich earth, slight dry bitterness, slight woody, a spicy tangy dark fruit background note, and a moderate peppery retro. Flavoring is leading with Cavendish supporting. Room note is pleasant, and aftertaste is good.

This is one of the first tobaccos I've tried. At the beginning I smoked only aromatics like most new pipe smokers. Now I prefer virginias and balkan blend with moderate amount of latakia, but Alsbo black still attracts me from time to time. Smells very pleasant from the pouch, packs and lights easily and burns leaving white dry ash. I like the nutty vanilla flavor of this blend even if the tobacco taste sometimes get lost between vanilla and nuts. Room note, sweet and spicy with some honey notes, is pleasant even for non smokers. Not bad overall. Especially when you need something with a pleasant smell for you and others around you.

I am not that much into aromatic tobaccos but this one is a good compromise for me when cut with a plain brown tobacco as an everyday smoke. Pros: Your wife will love it.

Is this the Dane for you?
If you like your Danes hairy, conquestious with a penchant for horn adorned helmets and invading Lindesfarne then this is probably not for you.
However if Magnus Magnusson is more your cup of tobacco then this may be up your street. It's cool, calm and won't let you pass without trying.
It burns cool and smooth and probably leaves the best aroma of any tobacco I have tried so far. I have yet to experience any tongue bite after 100g of this, just a mellow taste and kick that is suitable all day long. Recommended.

Nice aromas straight out of the pouch when unlit, a good moisture level making it easy to light. The strength and flavour profiles are very mild. A suitable everyday smoke for all pipe smokers.

I bought my first pouch of Alsbo Black in Poland. I liked the aroma as soon as I opened it. I swear I could smell hints of whiskey in it.
It is a very nice smoke, with a very pleasant taste. I tasted a nice natural tobacco with hints of nuts and whiskey. It burned nice but I found it could get quite wet towards the end of the bowl and it seemed to burn somewhat hot. It quite reminded me of Peterson's Sunset Breeze.
I recommend trying this blend.

A pleasant enough black cavendish but not as memorable as its more aromatic companion ALSBO GOLD. There is sweetness enough though I crave my aromatics with a bit more sugar and spicyness. There's a slight taste of vanilla. Pleasant mouth feel, smokes cool in the pipe, is almost impossible to get hot or bitter in the bowl and finishes nicely. Agree with other taboccoreviews.com scribes who would recommend this mixture to a frosh pipe smoker seeking a gentle introduction to the pipe smoking life.

An easy beginner's aromatic. High quality Cavendish for a reasonnable price with a good vanilla topping. It smokes very smooth, with a mild taste and a wonderful room note. No problems with packing and lighting, leaves very little dottle and doesn't smaoke wet if you smoke slowly. I like to have some in my car or my vest pocket as an all round or emergency tobacco. Not for people who look for complex flavors, nicotine kick or 'real' tobacco taste.

Alsbo Black is a good, though rather pedestrian, Black Cavendish, It's sweet, very aromatic and the description is pretty accurate: vanilla and hazelnut is what you get.
Unfortunately, and unlike Mac Baren's Black Ambrosia, there`s not much in the way of tobacco flavor. However it burns pretty well, virtually without tongue bite and with a room note that tends to dissipate quickly. It has a little more ump than its Golden sibling (basically a vanilla/pistaccio tasting golden cavendish).
Recommended as a very nice and smooth introduction to aromatics.
