The moderately nutty, molasses sweet burleys also sport a little toasted earth quality, and mostly takes the lead in this blend. The light cavendish Virginias bring a little toast, grass/hay, and light citrus and honey in a support role. The Cyprian latakia also plays a little higher in the support ranking, though its smoky, woody sweetness lacks some of the richness one normally expects of it. The unsweetened black cavendish offers some brown sugar for smoothness. The perique is a minor player with its very light plum and slightly more obvious spice aspects. The nic-hit is little past the mild threshold. Won’t bite, and has no harsh spots. The taste level is barely past mild. Burns at a moderate pace, cool, clean, and fairly smooth with a gentle, consistent flavor. Requires few relights, and leaves virtually no moisture in the bowl. An easy going all day smoke, though rather tame for an American English as it suffers from lack of flavor depth.

Bag note smells of faint Latakia, a little brown sugar, and hay. Packs and lights just fine with little if any dry time.
Big clouds of smoke is right. So despite it smelling sweet this isn’t a typical sweet Boswell’s blend. There is some sweetness to it but it’s not a cross over or aromatic. Grassy vegetative earthy Virginias with some woody earthy dry burley are the main components. The cavendish imparts some mild and welcome brown sugar. The Latakia is there but it’s faint, giving some depth of flavor but lacks the typical herbal smokey flavors. The perique is much the same way as I’m sure it’s in there but I can hardly detect it.
There’s enough interest here to keep me smoking it. Smoked well enough, no harshness, a little tingle, no bite. The retrohale is grassy sweet Virginias with hardly a tickle from the perique. Consistent flavor from start to finish. 2.5 stars.
If you like semi sweet non aromatic natural flavored tobacco blends with a little complexity this might be for you.

Jar note of vanilla, smoky and tartly sweet. Tobacco is a ribbon cut of dark brown, brown and black with a little light brown. Moisture content is great. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is mild and nic is mild. No flavoring is listed, but I detected a mild vanilla. It mostly stays in the background. Taste is mild and moderately consistent, with notes of tart dark fruit, peaty vegetation, spice, toast, wood, nuts, floral, molasses, rich earth, mild herbal smoky, tart and tangy citrus, a lemon grass and mild vanilla background note, and a mildly peppery, almost smooth retro. Burley is leading with Virginia Cavendish, Flavoring, Latakia and Perique supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great.
