BriarWorks International - Back Down South.

I posted a review on B' Works Pete's Beard's Blend a short while back and wasn't amused when I opened it to find a problem with the moisture. It looked quite dry, alas, I felt perturbed by the jar this company packages in, but BDS has reinstalled my faith in the jar's seal: the hydration's top notch. The flakes are semi broken and quite a dark brown. Tin-note/jar-notes sprightly and sharp: lemony Perique. Because the flakes are semi broken just folding/stuffing them into the bowl provides a perfect consistency to smoke.

Unlike a few of my fellow reviewers I can't say I identify an added flavour, the taste to me is a heavy Perique one. The Virginia's way behind it, the flavour's mainly composed of full, zesty, spicy, Perique, with a delicate sweetness lent by the Virginia. I get more of the Virginia to begin with but it quickly becomes smothered by the Perique. The smoke from it's cool and bite free.

Nicotine: medium to strong. Room-note: tolerable.

Back Down South? Four stars:

Highly recommended.

Tin note is very nice with some type of alcohol or fermented aroma. Moisture level is good. This folds and stuffs very easily or will rub out easily if that is preferred. Charring light was easy and sweet. The burn is slow and steady without hardly any relighting required. There is no doubt about this being a blend of what is claimed, both the Va. and the Perique are very evident in the smoke from start to finish. The blend has a high level of sweetness and a medium level of complexity. I was would definitely put this on par with many of the popular VaPer blends on the market today and maybe even give it a one up for the added flavor that comes through. Hay and grass, natural sugar sweetness, spice form the Perique, excellent with early morning coffee.

I wasn't expecting much from a liquor infused Virginia, but hey, this is good. The flake is mild and the bourbon taste comes thru only enough to season. The flavoring is more fruity than whisky, but as I said it's mild to the point that it's far, far in the background. This blend has harmony and is SUPERB! I really like the jar idea. update: I had to update this tobacco and give it a Highly four stars. I have found myself smoking more and more of this flake. I have tins and jars of tobacco all over the house and this is the one I keep going to. I'll be purchasing more of this!

Wonderful tin note of figs and dark chocolate with hint of citrus. Its ready to go right out of the jar. Just a rubbing out to your liking and pack a little on the lite side. The fist light is very peppery then this wonderful dark chocolate and earthiness of vaper. The after mouth taste makes you want to lite another bowl. Try if you can to keep it 2 bowls a day.
