Samuel Gawith Black Cherry

(2.74)
Rich black cavendishes together with a generous amount of sweet cherry generate a room aroma second to none. With satisfaction for both the smoker and the surrounding company, Black Cherry Cavendish is a "must" for lovers of aromatic tobaccos.
Notes: Due to EU regulations, this is renamed and sold in those countries as "BCC".

i have to confess, I am not a passionate aro smoker, but sometimes I try some of them, even though it might be just one bowl. This time I managed to smoke a tin - the coarse cut makes the difference I guess - the pipes I used kept a cool and delicious smoke, down the entire bowl. The cavendish was easy to smoke the cherry aroma became a bit lighter then out of the tin within the process of smoking. But there was no delight for me. A good smoke while you work or read, good amount of nicotine in every kind of bowl as well. A good change of pace though, but not a rotation tobacco. Good quality of tobacco. But not my world.

A harsh cherry blend that may require more drying than I allowed.

To be able to smoke this heavy aromatic I had to tame it down with some squadron leader. After that it rocks! On its own though is more than I need from an aromatic.. If you are into aros and like cherry or you have a sweet tooth do buy it! If not, do look elsewhere. A pure Black Cavendish, very sweet..

Very mild taste taste from the cavendish. The sweet/sour cherry is evident primarily in the exhale, also has a bit off cherry aftertaste. I like this blend because it's not sickly sweet or artificial tasting unlike similar blends where the flavouring is at the centre. But it is very mild and not very exciting.

Conclusion: More of a shisha tobacco than a pipe tobacco, this is to be handled and understood as such. That means that this is to be enjoyed instead of coffee and biscuits, not as a start of the day or a relaxation at the end of it. In a garden during summer, over a conversation, this absolutely has a place. The room note is wonderful, even my tobacco hating wife approved.

Taste: The notes are floral and artificial, in absolutely no way does this taste like cherry. Rather I would compare it to a Lipton fruit tea, where the taste is more of a mix of sensations reminiscent of the fruit it sets out to emulate than the fruit itself. It is not unpleasant though, it is actually quite nice. Like smoking a shisha, rather than a pipe. That is what it sets out to do, as I understand it. It takes on a deeper, bitter kind of note halfway through the bowl, but it never drops that floral character. I actually find it a bit overwhelming towards the end, a bit nauseating. But I usually stick to non aromatics, so that might explain it. That said, this nausea hit me while I smoked Grousemoor as well, so it might be due to the components used by Samuel Gawith.

Mechanics: Ribbon cut, quite moist so it will need some drying out. No bite. Medium nicotine.
Pipe Used: Cobs.

Mild and tasty. Smells nice for you and for your company. Just a regular aromatic blend that I wouldn't crave for it. It is a good change from time to time though...

One of my more preferred cherry aromatics, this one achieves a lovely, sweet scent of field-ripened cherries, a scent that here in Australia, is reminiscent of Christmas. Its a jolly smoke that leaves a light room note that i am told is "not too bad at all". I feel that gawiths black cherry is ready to go, straight out of the tin/pouch, so for those all about the experience of preparation, i dont suggest it. Its far more of a pack-and-go type of tobacco than a relax and ponder tobacco. So if you are after a ready to smoke, mild cherry workers friend, look no further

Happy piping

Very sweet and sticky tobacco. It tasted nice at first, but quickly became cloying and too sweet. Definitely not something you would want to smoke every day.
