The corn cob gathering!

Those are all cobs i have. Some are brand new and one has already 7 years and still smoking very well. The mini cob i like to smoke pure latakia, pure burley, pure perique,  when i need calibrate my sense.

Something i used to pay attention is the cake formation, in cobs i tend not to leave it there.

My next goal is a Mark Twain corn cob.

I only have a few corn cobs. The bigger one I use for mostly strong English blends. The little one is one of my golfing / fishing pipes. I keep a few of the little ones on hand as spares or for someone who wants to try pipe smoking.

Nice idea! I’ve already introduced one friend to the hobby and given him a pipe. You never know when someone might be interested.

Funny story about that pipe. I got it in a little smoke shop in rural Washington near Mt. Ranier. We were on a road trip. This was where my wife decided she wanted to try pipes. We grabbed her a pipe and she decided she liked it to. We piped everynight of the trip on the tailgate of my truck.

Nice collection, nach0! Which is your favourite? If you had to choose one, only, to take on a desert island 😊

I´d say that this first one is my favorite, the last one is identical with 7 years more of using.
The plaster that covers the "Legend" chamber makes a beautiful finishing, although makes it little bit heavier but for sure the "Legend" in 5th avenue bowl is my desert island choice.

I like the shapes that they call 5th Avenue Bowl Shape, Rob Roy Bowl Shape and flat.

The 2 smalls are the mini cob and the Eaton. Both good for fast smoke.

Here are two of mine that have been getting the most attention from me lately, a Diamondback and a Diplomat with Forever Stem.

Does your Diamondback burn hot or am I just drawing to often?

Is it new?  I know my new ones smoke hot until it builds up a bit of carbon in the bowl.

It's very new only maybe 4 or 5 bowls. I think because of the shaved down sides I feel it more. May just need to slow it down. I do tend to puff to much I think.

Dies the Diamondback have a normal stem with typical  airway like Briar pipes?

This is an antique one out of my collection. Over 100 years old, nicely curved reed stem.

Unfortunately the label is lost to time, so I’m not sure who made it. It does disprove the allegation that some detractors make that these pipes don’t last 🙂

You are right as usual mate. 100 years is enough time to prove they last a little bit hahahahahahah

With my meager funds. I find that I can buy a bunch of cobs and have a decent collection. The Patriot was not my favorite design, but now it's grown on me. I really want to get one of each. The Mark Twain being my next.

I have 3 Mark Twains l, two straight and one bent all of them are great but I do slightly prefer the bent one, thei're quite heavy and the bent makes it easier to clench.

I was waiting for the Rob Roy (new for my English adventure) and the Diamondback before sharing my cobs. I love cobs.

Nice pieces mate. You guys added in my mind the necessity of having a Diamondback. Now i feel i need 2 more pipes in my cob collection. A Mark Twain still my main goal.

There is something very pleasing about the Diamondback. To me, it has an almost dwarven kind of feel to it, and I'm a big ol' Tolkien nerd.

I like my dwarf cobbit a lot. In the books gimli gets a pipe from pippin if I remember correctly the description of that pipe comes close (in my imagination at least) to the dwarf cobbit.

Love this thread. I have some decent briars. But when I want a no hassle smoke. which is pretty much always, I grab a cob.

They just smoke great. I've always attributed it to the wide open airway.

I have a Diplomat apple incoming

Get 3. 😎

1 for burley and VA. One for Latakia and one for aros.

A cob smokes burleys like nobody's business.
