Opening the pouch and sniffing the contents reminded me of Capt Black Royal (blue pack). It wasn't overly moist. Loading and lighting were with ease. Upon lighting I got that PG sting going up my nostrils; not a good thing. Perhaps due to its freshness, I got no flavors at all from this one while smoking (except for the PG). Perhaps will be better after a lot of drying, or from the tub and not the pouch? If there are any significant changes in the future I'll report on it, but for now, 2 stars.

Captain Black Copper is a lightly-sweet aromatic with notes of slightly creamy butterscotch, vanilla, and cocoa. The Virginia in this blend provides a hint of grass that surprisingly is not lost under all the sweetness, however I don't think the grassy flavor plays well with the topping for this blend. The burley provides just a touch of toastiness in the aftertaste. CB Copper is an unexpectedly complex smoke that might be good after dinner for the aromotic smoker.

The tobacco is a little bit too moist out of the pouch which is to be expected. After 20 minutes' airing out, though, it packs and smokes well with no tongue bite at all and few relights. In all, this is a decent aromatic, but it's a little busy in flavor for me.

The more I smoke this, the more I'm able to appreciate it for what it is. It's definitely got some burley nuttiness underneath the brighter, crisper Virginia flavor. It goes well with a cup of strong black coffee in the morning. Its dryness was just right out of the pouch, and it smokes like a champ--no excess moisture in my pipe and no tongue bite.

I'm disappointed with the lack of aromatic notes in this blend. Any flavor from the vanilla topping is entirely lost on me. The room note leaves a lot to be desired as well; it's not really awful, but it's also not really a pleasant smell for passersby.

This tobacco would suit you if you're looking for a mild yet decently flavorful all-day smoke. If you're a big aromatic fan, you might not be thrilled with this, but neither should you find it unpalatable. I'll finish this pouch without complaining, but I won't be buying CB Copper again.

This is a good very mild vanilla aromatic. Not wet, no chemical taste, hardly any rough edges. Some tobacco flavor, mainly light burley. i find this too bland to hold much interest. But others may enjoy this for all day puffing without any concern for flavor overload or nicotine (there's little). A number of bulk and tin vanilla aros are, in my opinion, quite superior for tobacco flavor and quality and not necessarily more expensive. Mac Barens Vanilla Cream and others come to mind. As a tobacco only available by mail order, that's my comparison group. Two and a half stars.
