I have a fellow pipe smoking friend in the Sarasota, Florida area who sends me new blends to try and review whenever Gary Bennington whips up another new one. Sheriff is not new, but I just never reviewed it for some reason.
For those of you who remember the old Pipe Pub franchise pipe shops that were around the country up until the early to mid 1990's, Sheriff is extremely similar to their Blend #2. A bright and dark cavendish cut Burley that smoked sweet yet still tasted like tobacco. I always liked #2 and I like Sheriff even better because the tobacco in this blend tastes more like... well, tobacco. Mild but with enough body to keep the palate interested.
